That part of Heroes and Villains where it sounds like a Cowboy on a horse gently trotting off into the horizon with the sound getting lower and lower.

Here's one to shake up those dormant memories of the early seventies....

GRAND FUNK RAILROAD...."Into The Sun!"

(picture yourself driving west at sunset at a high rate of speed in a vintage red camaro with a bunch of your buds, circa 1972, stimulants on board and GFR blasting out of the 8 trak player)

"L.A. Woman" or "Riders On The Storm" - and Jim Morrison then DID ride off into the sunset...

There used to be a college radio show I listened to where the guy's closing theme was "Happy Trails." I used to get a kick out of that.

My pick, too -- the instrumental take on "Another View."

The "Cowboy Theme" (also known as "Country & Western Theme" or "Bridge To Indians") is the link between "Heroes And Villains" and "Roll Plymouth Rock" on SMiLE.

"False Barnyard" (also known as "Barnshine") is the piece at the end of the 9-minute version of "Heroes And Villains" on the Smiley Smile/Wild Honey-twofer.

Confusing, isn´t it?

The long H&V is on the GV box, not the SS/WH twofer. False Barnyard DOES appear on that twofer however, as the ending of the H&V acetate version.
The name Barnshine only applies to an early mix with Mike Love singing the You Are My Sunshine lyrics over the top of it, lending credence to the theory that the piece was supposed to be a section of Old Master Painter.

Wait, so False Barnyard is that "hum dumby doo-doo wop ahh" thing at the end of the Heroes and Villains bonus track on Smiley Smile/Wild Honey?

I most certainly remember hearing a version of You Are My Sunshine/Old Master Painter that has that..
