Is anyone else here familiar with/a fan of Gorky's Zygotic Mynci? They were a Welsh band that broke up a couple of years ago who put together what I consider to be a really, really interesting and sometimes beautiful blend of pastoral folk, chamber pop and rock music. Clever arrangements, great melodies...and singing in Welsh sometimes. What's not to love? (One of their primary members, Euros Childs, had a solo album last year that I really liked, too.)

I thought "How I Long to Feel that Summer in My Heart," an album they released in the early 00s, was among the best albums ever. I still do, actually. It is among my top 100 or so albums of all time. (111, I think, actually. I really did make a list last weekend. I am a geek.)

great, great band. I love Sleep/Holiday and the Blue Trees. That is the perfect music to mellow out to (or "cool out to," to put it in BB terms). the song "Happiness" is one of my favorite songs period. and Patio Song! I didn't know he put out a solo album

Euros Childs has lots of free stuff up at his revamped website - http://www.euroschilds.com/ (now kind of a label under The National Elf Library). Id highly recommend "son of euros child" (free download) and his recently released collaboration with Norman Blake of Teenage Fanclub- "Jonny"

I'll second that. Euros cracks me up--to me he's this cool peripheral character to music. He's to good to not listen to, but most everything he does strikes me as deeply flawed in some way, too. Funny, quirky, clever, melodic, catchy, juvenile, annoying, all together in one relatively prolific character. I only heard the late '10 Jonny EP, haven't checked out the '11 full-length yet, but I fully plan to. I halfway hope Blake rounds out some of Childs' edges (and Childs adds character to Blake's ... competence, for lack of a better word).

I saw them in concert around 2000 or so, and Euros was wearing a Honeys t-shirt.

The chorus to their song Poodle Rockin' has the lines "My mind was a mess 'til you brought happiness"... sound familiar?

And check out their song Diamond Dew. Brilliant.
