The last two days this site has been down for hours at a time, seemingly at random, coming in for an hour or sometimes less at a time before going again. I wouldn't mind if I weren't an obsessive fan doing a deep dive and juggling several pages at once for references. But it's got me worried for the future if Charles or whoever can't or won't fix SmileySmile's woefully outdated online architecture.

I've backed up my own posts at least and, sooner or later, will get around to archiving them on my blog at thecarbonfreeze.com probably in an altered format if anyone's interested on one guy's extensive analysis of that. Normally I wouldn't self-advertise but if anyone was curious where my "Last Crack at the SMiLE Jigsaw" essays will end up in the event we can't rely on this site's structural integrity long-term. I'm going to develop the catalog of SMiLE info I've been calling Deaf Genius/Dumb Angel there as well, with what I consider a curated canon of reliable sources. I might cross-post it to the beach boys reddit or other forums as well--but I can't go to Endless Harmony. Mikie hates me, always has, and I'm not welcome.

I would've backed up mine and some of the other best SMiLE threads on the Internet Archive Wayback Machine but I've tried it and it always saved an error screen even though I used the exact URL and it appears on the live web. I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong or this obsolete wepbage, which has gone dark before and now feels teetering on the brink again, is just incompatible somehow. As long as I retain access I'll try to at least take extended screencaps and save to pdf, then share the files on dropbox or whatever.
