So, here is 1979 on my site beachboysgigs.com. www.beachboysgigs.com/1979-2/  As you can see, I list all the shows that year and discuss events around them. When possible I have a pic from the show or at least from that year....which was a long and interesting one....kind of a calm year after the stormy 1977-1978 period...though there was still residual tension occasionally. You can of course view the other gigs from 1961-1978. There is also-from the main menu-an additions blog-where I list shows not in the original book or errors I have discovered-that is done up to 1974.

Wow, forgot that Shortenin' Bread was played live in 1979. Listened on YouTube -- it's great!

Fascinating stuff Ian... thanks as always.

Yeah it is interesting the songs they chose to play from albums over the years and also the songs that they opted not to play live as well

Excellent work as always, Ian--it's clear that this is the year where Dennis really starts to go off the rails.

I think we'll all be interested in the materials you assemble for 1980, which I recall as being a pretty dismal time--the aimlessness of KEEPIN' THE SUMMER ALIVE sticking out like a sore thumb in a period of decline that eventually spurred Carl to pursue a solo career.
