Rick Swan’s new book The Beach Boys All the Songs mentions an alternate version of Lookin’ at Tomorrow which is clean with no effects and says it is available on the UK Surf’s Up. I bought the original vinyl from the UK and it’s the same version as the US with the effects.
He also mentions a 15 Big Ones version of Peggy Sue that has silly background vocals and a psychedelic guitar that was mistakenly released. These are not bootleg versions. These are official releases that are available somewhere. Anybody know where I can find these? It’s been pretty frustrating. Thank you!

Pretty sure the Peggy Sue reference is to a rough mix / alternate version that was accidentally released on a 1991 reissue of MIU. You can find it here: https://youtu.be/UjhXCFRD7Gg?si=oM9mA9OXbG9tXxlv

Thank you. Do you mean the Caribou MIU cd?

The early 90s CD release of “MIU Album” on Caribou/CBS/Sony accidentally included unreleased alternate mixes of a few of the songs. I recall that the most starkly different mixes were for “Come Go With Me” and “Winds of Change”, and “Peggy Sue” was also different. I don’t recall “psychedelic guitar”, but the mix was different.

I don’t know that any of these were “15 Big Ones” mixes/versions as such. I know some people made that assumption on the “Come Go With Me” alternate mix, because Al had started the song in 1976. But years later, an actual purported “15 Big Ones” era mix of “Come Go With Me” surfaced on that “Brother Rarities Proposed Bonus Tracks” set of discs, and it’s much more sparse and different than that incorrect “MIU Album” CD mix, which I think was just an earlier mix from the “MIU” sessions, and still includes some overdubs from the “MIU” album/era.
