To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

This sounds really good, actually. Sounds like the usual Lewis material, but I might just get this. When does it come out? I guess 9/26/06 is what it says. Thanks for posting

Yep, 26th Sept. I heard in November there will be a TV-special on the album but I don't have any further information...

The record Jerry Lee Lewis did with Andy Paley producing a few years back was pretty good.  I'm looking forward to this one.

You mean "Young blood" ? Yeah, it was cool, but it hadn't had the right spirit imo.
BTW many of the songs on this new album were recorded at the original Sun Studio in Memphis, Tennessee

I really liked Hot Fuss.  Highly doubt they'll reach that sort of success again.  I don't think any of them even marrying a 13 year old cousin would bring them out into the media, now that I think of it.

I just obtained a copy of this album and upon first listen, it is a very solid record.  The Killer is in great voice, especially for a 71 year old man.  His rolling piano is still increadible and the song selection is very good.  He still has that way of phrasing that nobody has ever been able to copy.  This set covers all of the styles Jerry Lee has been involved in throughout his long career from the early rockabilly to the stone country music of his later career.  Very nice indeed.  My only complaint lies in two of the guest artists chosen.  foda Kid Rock and especially that big pile redneck of merda Toby Keith!!!  They both suck and have no businiess on this record.  They ruin what otherwise are grat performances.  Sorry if any of you like them, but they both piss me off.  Even with those two losers on board, this album is very good and worth picking up.

Yup both are on it and upon further listen, the Kid Rock track isn't so bad.  Jerry Lee is great on it and I can stomach Kid Rock's performance as it sounds like some piece of trash singing Honky Tonk Women which the song actually calls for.  Kid is awful on his own but he could go wrong with a song as great as HTW.

Toby Keith is awful!  Totally ruins what isn't really a great song anyway.

"Justice will be served
And the battle will rage
This big dog will fight
When you rattle his cage
And you’ll be sorry that you messed with
The U.S. of A.
`Cause we`ll put a boot in your ass
It`s the American way"-Toby Keith "Toby Keith Lyrics "Courtesy Of The Red, White, And Blue (The Angry American)"

You can't honostly like this can you?  Even if you are the ultra patriotic and USA can do no wrong type, these lyrics are fodaing terrible.  A "boot in your ass"?  Seriously?

By the way, just in case anyone gets confused, the Toby Keith song above is not the song Jerry Lee does on his new record.

That's right. The Jerry Lee song btw is called "Old glory", which the Killer himself wrote. It's nice, but not a stand out.

Could be.  I copied and pasted from another site.  Either way, ridiculous  redneck ignorance at its finest.

In the interest of fairness, let me point out that

1.  The song was written about his father who did serve in the military
2.  Toby Keith initially did not want to release the song because it was too personal.   Playing the song for the servicemen changed his mind.
3.  The lyrics are no more inflammatory than the lyrics on American Idiot or Neil Young's Living With War.  It all depends on your taste and probably your political ideology.  (point of info- I'm probably one of the few people on the planet that has all three CD's)

I personally like Toby Keith because he isn't afraid to speak his mind and doesn't care what anyone else thinks.  I admire that trait and it's the same reason I've always been a big Neil Young fan.  And American Idiot is just a great CD- even if I don't  necessary agree with the political statement being made.

That said, anything with Jerry Lee Lewis on it can't be all bad.

I finally got the CD and it's awesome as expected.  This is one of the best releases of the last decade imo. Check out The Killer tonight on Letterman on CBS
