To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

Thanks, Rocker. I don't drop in here very often, but this is the first I've read about this album. So this would have been after "Born to Rock" in 1989, and before "706 ReUnion" in 1992. I don't buy much new vinyl, but this one will be worth getting.

Let us know what you think about the album. I listened to a couple of snippets and think the slapback-echo was a little too long on the fast songs. At least to my ears and based on 30-second samples.

Something I noticed recently while playing a numbers game at the BBT forum was that in The Beatles' version of "Everybody Wants To Be My Baby", George fluffs the line "Fifteen women knockin' at my door":
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wn7FiAdHcmw
It comes out as "Fiff women" and all the lyrics sites turn it into fifty!!! George clearly had a busier time of it than Carl that night...
Great cover version all the same...

Yes, I have the Beatles and Rick Nelson for turning me onto Carl Perkins beyond BSS.

Interesting! I first came across the music of Carl P when my bro and I visited two brothers (school friends of his) who had built their own guitars -- these looked great (one was all blue and the other was all red) but they were impossible to play as the necks were the size of tree trunks. But I digress...
We heard two life-changing records there that day, "Slow Down" by Larry Williams and "Matchbox", still my favourite Carl P recording. That session with Jerry Lee also produced this stonker:
