Ha! Sth. to tell - listening to Smiley Smile the very 1st time, when this song began, I didn't expect to hear loud ear-attacking buzzing. Then the verses quietly go, I naively think this is quiet song except the intro but then Brian yells, then gets low & boom! - loud chorus again. To cut it short, 5.

Gettin' Hungry

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks this song deserves 5. I know the song's a bit bizarre (but like I've mentioned before I love that side of Brian's music). It's very uncommercial and I'm surprised they decided to use it as a single (the Celebration version is more contemporary, but not as fun to listen to as the BB Smiley Smile version). It's a great stop-start rocker.

Notice: I've been thinking about skipping the 'Lei'd in Hawaii' fake live album, which I did on PSF, due to my assumption that it wouldn't interest you very much.
I'll do some key tracks (The Letter, With a Little Help, Game of Love) anyway though.

Smiley Smile is my favorite album. Not just by the Beach Boys but in general, by any artist. I know I'm in the minority with this (but I know I'm not alone). It's the album that really turned me on to them. Not a commercial success, disappointing to many people, quite bizarre...and yet my favorite. Think I'll spin it now...

I first heard this song in late '67 in the canteen at my first place of work. It sounded every bit
as fresh as any BB 45 up till then. (Regrettably it didn't get much airplay.) An absolute classic.

Especially love that crazy/short organ solo...reminds me of the Doors - and Jim Morrison listed this as one of his favorite albums in his bio on their debut album....not sure where he listed it actually, but he did mention it at some point.
