Wanted to see that docu, Jon Stebbins' docu right?, for a long time. Very revealing and has some great stuff in it. Sad ending is right...

A fairly down-to-earth person who once was around the Beach Boys quite a bit "back in the day" once said to me, "the problem with Mike is he always took himself so damn seriously." Which to me was a pretty illuminating statement.

Ok, I know everyone's heard this tune (Someone to Love from Sweet Insanity) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yRyPW8EmThwI just wanted to point out the conversation that someone's actually convinced Brian will revisit more Sweet Insanity tunes, which I highly doubt will ever happen.

Do you happen to know which Jan & Dean album this is on? I've got to hear it.

Brian always reuses songs. He'll be dipping into his back-catalog 'til the day he dies.

Not included on any original vinyl album, a single only release in 1960: Dore 576 (produced by Herb Alpert & Lou Adler) You can find it on the Jan & Dean CD "Teen Suite 1958-1962" (Varese Sarabande VSD-5590) and as a bonus track on the 1996 reissue of the original Dore album (Sundazed LP 5040).

Both of those songs are on the Doo Wop Box, which I'm sure at least a handful of people here own. If not, buy/steal it, there's some great stuff on there. And get Back to Mono, the Phil Spector box, too.

This was posted a long while back, but I thought I'd bring it to attention: http://youtube.com/watch?v=suQ2cDxsxFE&feature=relatedBeach Boys on Solid Gold lip-syncing to "The BB Medley" and "R+R to the Resque." Ummmmm, this does not serve the single well at all, but I'm convinced they filmed at least two takes of this; during some shots of it Brian's decidely out of sorts (playing no keyboard, standing stiff as a board) and in others he's a little bit more with it, and it doesn't match at all. What do you think? In any even, Brian looks very physically fit but scared to death.
