Paul didn't win, I figured Stallone would get the votes.

Paul Dano just lost to Sylvester Stallone. I wish I was joking. You can all go home now.

award shows are a joke anyway. Its all politics, popularity contests, possibly bribes and back room blow jobs too. Citizen Kane didnt win best picture, Al Pacino didnt win for any of his 70s roles, and Peter O'Toole who gave the greatest on screen performance ever, never won in his life. Look at whats happening to Leo right now too. Say what you will about him, but he deserves at least one Oscar. Dont take any of these schamltzy "look how awesome we are!" Hollywood circle jerks seriously

I stopped watching that shyte back when Winchester Cathedral knocked off Good Vibrations. Awards shows aren't real. Don't watch 'em. You'll never get those hours back.

I am a fan of Denzel.
Add Some, you bring up a good point. I was so surprised when I learned that there were popular music categories when Pet Sounds and Good Vibrations, etc. came out and the BB were hardly ever nominated and never won! What's up with that?

Stallone was fantastic in Creed. Totally deserving. The crowd reaction said it all.

Award shows are always awful. I wouldn't tune in even if Brian was confirmed to win five awards. If Brian had been performing, I'd have DVR'ed it and watched the five minutes and skipped everything else.
And separately, if one hadn't seen most out all of the movies in question, it's kind of hard to call Brian's shut out a travesty or anything.
Nominations are impressive enough. I don't particularly think "One Kind of Love" is among his best work, so a nomination was a pleasant surprise.

When Katy Perry came out to present Best Original Song, I practically prayed it was in the bag for Brian...if only to see him reach the stage and mistake Perry for Zooey Deschanel.
Became fascinated with BriMelspotting once I realized they were right behind Matt Damon's table. Melinda was frequently visible in her red dress in that sea of formal wear. I also noticed at the last commercial break they'd disappeared - I don't think they were in their seats for the last brace of awards. Probably a long night for Brian...but part of me thinks it's marvellous he's out on the town with the glitterati.

Glad to see Ennio Morricone win for best score - that made me happy, as he's long been one of my favorite composers.

At first I was disappointed that Paul Dano, Brian, and Scott didn't win a Golden Globe.
Then, I just found out that Lady GaGa took home an award for best actress in a mini-series for her role in American Horror Story - Hotel. I'm a fan of the show, and this season has been better than I expected. But her performance is really not very good. I guess playing an emotionless half-naked (and sometimes all the way naked) vampire is award worthy these days. Wow.

The older I get, the more I appreciate the simple pleasures that abound with the music that Brain has given us. In Minnesota its time for slowing down and enjoying the path taken. Pay homage to souls that have brought you enjoyment. Go explore the wonders of the winter season (did you watch the Vikings game and the hardy souls) Sometimes we attempt to separate fact from fantasy as it may pertain to Brian. The awards seem to be circumstances beyond our control. Our horse lost in the race, but I love this horse so much. I've won over this cancer mess and I hope to hear and see many more songs and concerts. In a few more month it will be summer and Brian will be back in his element. Long may we all run1

This will sound cliche I think but anymore I think the Golden Globes and Oscars are a flavor of the month and popularity contest.
I didn't see "Creed" so I cannot make any judgement on Stallone's performance. What I can say is that he has been playing roughly the same character for many, many years and that award last night felt like the culmination of events rather than something more genuine. Paul Dano disappeared into his role in L&M.
Also, Sam Smith over Brian Wilson? YHGTBFKM.
Hopefully Paul Dano will be nominated for an Oscar, it's really hard to tell from award ceremony results what might it might portend.
