How different would the band dynamic have been, if Mike and Al had both been Wilson brothers, but with their same general respective personalities?

Would Mike and Dennis' falling out happened the same way if they were brothers and not cousins? Would band politics have been completely different? There are a million questions like these which are interesting to ponder.

Certainly, if Mike and Al had Murry as a dad, they'd likely have had deep issues themselves, which would doubtlessly have effected their personalities in some way.

Well, we all know what happens when brothers end up in a band together. The Everlys, the Davies brothers, the Bachman brothers, the Gibbs.

Yup… back in the day my brother and used to knock lumps out of each other for fun. With this band's dynamic, they wouldn't have lived until 1966…

You don't hear many stories of Brian, Denny and Carl coming to blows.  In fact...Have I heard any?  Murry did all of the swattin' within that compact.  Not saying they didn't have words...or that they didn't pick on little Carl but...I always had a sense that the brothers Wilson were very close.

I think I read in Becoming the Beach Boys, that Dennis picked on Carl a little bit. Sounded like typical sibling type stuff, though. They all shared one bedroom, so you better get along.

That's very interesting. Based on the closeness of the actual Wilson brothers, I think the band would have been on the same page more often.

And production aside, I’d so much rather hear a 14 year old David Marks shred some guitar on Chug-a-lug than hear a 51 year old Mike Love sing about bangin some chick in a swimming pool.-rab2591

Surely the Jardines would be a folk group. Maybe the Dr. Jardine Traveling Dental and Medicine Show, or the New Jardine Minstrels. :D
