We all know the line in the song, "I know that you'll feel better if you send us in your letter and tell us the name of your, your favorite vege-table".
Did anyone do this? Was there ever a big fat file folder at Capitol with fan letters telling about their favorite veggies? Anyone tabulate the results? Anyone here actually write in themselves? Did "carrots" win?
I do wonder if Brian ever thought people would send some letters in. When he wrote the song, after all, the band was still popular enough to probably be receiving a ton of fan letters of all sorts, and I wouldn't be surprised if some of them ventured into weird/creepy territory with what the more hardcore fans wrote to the band about, subject-wise.
By the time Smiley Smile came out, the band had gotten quite a bit less popular in a short period of time. But I'm sure that over the years, some fan(s) sent in a vegetable letter or two.
