Here's a new interview with Hiddleston and Rodney Crowell.
Becoming Hank - Part One
Tom Hiddleston is a classically trained British actor, who recently took on the role of Hank Williams for the upcoming film I Saw The Light. Exactly how does a British man transform into an American country music icon?

Hank Williams Jr. on Hank Sr., the Opry and 'Weird Pop Country'
"You gotta watch out for a motivated icon," boasts Bocephus of his sterling new LP 'It's About Time'
http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/hank-williams-jr-on-hank-sr-the-opry-and-weird-pop-country-20160115
Listen to some samples here:

Judging from these sample, I'd call it crap.

It's Hiddleston himself. I don't think it's very good either. Just like "Walk the line". I hope the movie will be better.

Saw an interview with Hank Jr., they asked him if he saw the movie, he said "No, I think my Daughter saw it though". Asked it he was going to see it, he answered "Hell no".
I think Holly has said she really liked it.

Heard an interview today on NPR with the lead Tom Hiddleston. The guy clearly took it very seriously and worked hard and gives Hank Sr.'s art and legacy enormous respect. The guy is trained in the classics, for what that is worth. They played some song snippets and my impression was hey, solid effort! Hiddleston stated he couldn't imagine capturing the character while lip syncing, which I can dig. But needless to say, as is the case with these things, he is a bit off in the ease of Hank's vocal style.

There's also a link to a screenplay from the late 70s ("Robert De Niro and Jack Nicholson were considered for the role, but the script was so dark that Williams’s publishing company refused to allow his songs to be used.")

Saturday night they kept talking about it on the Grand ol' Opry, it's in limited release in certain cities, and I think going to most theatres Tommorow... Also Loretta Lynn performed at the Opry Saturday, she sounded I swear to God exactly like she always has. I don't know how that's possible...
