Getcha Back -- It took me awhile to get past the 80's-ness of it & Mike's cheeze in order to see how awesome the bgv's are. And that transition from the 1st chorus to the 2nd verse is KILLER.

Funky Pretty-used to dismiss it as nonsense, now it's one of my top faves with the whole ambience and layers of sound.
All This is That

I never cared much for "Wild Honey" when it first came out.  Now I keep playing Blondie's version from the Soundstage DVD over and over.

I don't understand the "Mike's cheeze" comment; lyrically, the song harkens back to some of his best 1960s lyrics with an adult perspective.  And, for me it's one of his best lead vocals, with a distinct jazz feel.  He's very off meter, intentionally, behind the beat, holding back his notes as far as he can.  That's a jazz thing... Matt Monro used to do it all the time.

I'm thinking the Mike's cheese being referred to is the over exaggerated nasal quality of his vocals on Getcha Back.

Shoot, that is everything he sang from 15 Big Ones onward with the one exception being Love You. He sounds fantastic on Love You. Just wish it would have stayed that way, but by MIU he was back to singing overly nasal again.

I'm not hearing as much cheese as usual on "Pitter Patter". Musta been an off day for the luHvster.   Razz
