So, last night I was coming back from the valley in the wee wee hours, and the 405 was shut down around Ventura BLVD, so I took the Sepulveda pass down until it was also blocked off somewhere near Getty Center Drive .... So, stupidly, I ignore the detour and shoot up a residential street and soon I'm lost amongst the darkened winding and narrow roads and my phone is dead and my gas is just about gone .......

So, I pull over thinking I ought to get out and try and find somewhere with a view so I can get my bearings, because at this point I'd only enough gas to likely only roll downhill until I could hopefully find a gas station.... So I get out and I'm heading up toward the corner ahead which I'm thinking might lead here or there, and I hear some wind chimes to my right. Hearing wind chimes, of course I'm instantly thinking BEACH BOYS, so I look up in the direction they came from and what do I see??? The sign for Bellagio! ..... Bellagio must lead down to Sunset, right? I mean, it HAS TO!!!! ..... So, I roll down Bellagio to Sunset and all was well ......

Not much of a topic, I know, but The Beach Boys literally saved my ass after decades of doing it emotionally.... If I didn't have a personal connection to that road, I'd likely still be stuck up there (which I'm sure some of you wouldn't mind) ....

How many times have The Beach Boys saved your asses as well!

Glad they saved you Pinder!  Also for us fans here in the UK I hope you know how lucky you are to be able to drive (even get lost!) around Beach Boys country!  I made it over to LA once on holiday and managed to walk along Sunset and down Rodeo Drive to Wiltshire (we were the only pedestrians for miles!) before getting a cab to Santa Monica and biking it down to Marina Del Rey and back.  Would love to do it again by car and see more!

Ride the bike strand on 4th of July from El Segundo all the way past Manhattan/Hermosa/Redondo beaches to Palos Verdes and you'll feel like you're on "Planet Beach Boys" Smiley

And production aside, I’d so much rather hear a 14 year old David Marks shred some guitar on Chug-a-lug than hear a 51 year old Mike Love sing about bangin some chick in a swimming pool.-rab2591

I think you need to write a song about your ordeal. Was thinking Elton John soon as I saw the title. Smiley

The Brianista Prayer

Oh Brian
Thou Art In Hawthorne,
Harmonied Be Thy name
Your Kingdom Come,
Your Steak Well Done,
On Stage As It Is In Studio,
Give Us This Day, Our Shortenin' Bread
And Forgive Us Our Bootlegs,
As We Also Have Forgiven Our Wife And Managers,
And Lead Us Not Into Kokomo,
But Deliver Us From Mike Love.
Amen.  ---hypehat

This sounds like an episode of SNL's "The Californians."
