http://333sound.com/2014/03/05/open-call-2014-complete-list-of-proposals/

This is the series for which Jim Fusilli wrote a book about PS in '05, and for which Luis Sanchez has written a book about Smile to be published in May. (So far the BBs, along with Radiohead and the Stones, are the only performers to be the subject of more than one book in the series.)

Anyway, Bloomsbury just did an open call for proposals for books in 33 1/3, and this is a list of the ones that came in.

Where a record is listed more than once, that means that more than one person submitted a proposal to write a book about it.  Given how dedicated Tori Amos' fans of a literary bent are, I can well believe that four people independently wanted to write about Boys For Pele. But four people wanting to write about the Silver Jews's American Water?  Sounds like some of David Berman's tomfoolery to me.

What's striking about this list, of course, is that our guys are completely absent.  Not one person out there thinks that Today, SS, WH, Friends, Sunflower, SU, or Love You is worthy of being the subject of one of these little paperbacks?  C'mon.

(But then again, I only found out there had been a call for proposals after the fact, when it was mentioned on FB.)

Anyway, some curious and thought-provoking choices on there.  Funny thing is, Elvis Presley has never been the subject of a book in this series and there are almost 90 of 'em so far. And of the several hundred titles proposed above, only one was for one of his records - Elvis' Christmas Album!  Really - not the '75 Sun Sessions? First RCA album? Memphis Record? How Great Thou Art?  Heck, I'd rather read a book about the Spinout soundtrack than about some of the records listed at this link.
