http://www.vintagevinylnews.com/2014/02/passings-ray-kennedy-multi-talented.htmlAn obit for Ray, indicating just what a thoroughly diverse career he had. Any guy that starts out dancing on Bandstand at the age of 14 and goes on to work with not only Brian but also Michael Bloomfield (plus Barry Goldberg and Carmine Appice), Aerosmith, Michael Schenkar, Engelbert and Wayne Newton - not to mention studying painting with Andrew Wyeth - has to have something on the ball.
I wonder how the credits read on that very first PRO 45 of SOS. In the interview I linked to, Ray says that hearing the record while driving was the first he knew that anyone had recorded the song, three years after he and Brian started writing it.
The credits for Rep 1138: ( words by Jack Rieley and Ray kennedy) ( Music by Tandyn Almer, Van Dyke Parks, Brian Wilson)
Interesting link there to a piece on a Gregg Allman biopic, includes this: >> Unclaimed Freight Productions made the film CBGB and are currently working on Caribou Records, the story of James William Guercio's Colorado recording studios where artists like Elton John, Billy Joel and Chicago made some of their greatest albums. <<
