Actress Gail Gerber dies at 76
March 5, 2014, 8:52 AM EST

Actress Gail Gerber has died at the age of 76. The blonde star passed away in Connecticut over the weekend following a battle with lung cancer. After moving from Canada to Hollywood, Gerber landed her first roles in 1964, appearing on TV series "Mr. Novak," "My Three Sons," "Perry Mason" and "Wagon Train."

She then graduated to the big screen, appearing in a number of teen films under the name Gail Gilmore, starring opposite Elvis Presley twice in "Girl Happy" and "Harum Scarum," both shot in 1965. Gerber also starred opposite the Beach Boys in 1965 film "The Girls on the Beach" and in sci-fi classic "Village of the Giants."

In 1966, she quit acting to marry Oscar-nominated screenwriter Terry Southern, who helped to write "Easy Rider" and "Dr. Strangelove." The couple was together for 30 years before Southern died aged 71 in 1995.

a diseased bunch of mo'fos if there ever was one… their beauty is so awesome that listening to them at their best is like being in some vast dream cathedral decorated with a thousand gleaming American pop culture icons.

PRO SHOT BEACH BOYS CONCERTS - LIST

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

This is sad news... but oddly, the first thing that came to my mind is - did Dennis get with her?  Grin Terrible, I know.

For a humble screenwriter, Terry Southern sure had a way with the ladies. Right before he married Gail, he dated none other than Joey Heatherton - there are photos to prove this.  Maybe it was because he'd also been a professional pornographer in Paree in the '50s - sometimes gals are a little intrigued by things like that.
