Maybe Hawthorne High played Palos Verdes High in football and baseball?  They look to be about 17 miles apart.

I'm not on facebook so don't know the quote but yes, very close. From the beaches in the area  PV dominates the view to the south and as teens were very mobile at the time a very good chance they interacted.

Reading through the concert book, I notice that the Beach Boys played at a lot of high schools in 61-62. They are not all documented. Maybe he played there as well and the fan saw them there?
