Don't Talk (Put Your Head On My Elbow). As Carole Kaye said "it's unearthly slow."
Love that: "Unearthly." Unearthly, indeed. Otherworldly. That sort of thing. ^_______________^ It might be my favorite song on Pet Sounds. It's in my top three favorites on the album. I don't think Carole was being negative when she said that... Agree ('bout CK's opinion). The full quote is: "Pretty tune. Unearthly slow. Imagine playing this without any lead (like the rest of his tracks). You still had to keep good time no matter how slow. Nice chord changes...almost classical, especially with string overdubs. Lots of suspensions and close harmonies, something Brian was getting more and more into" - see the little green book in the PSS box - p68 I know Carole wasn't being overtly negative when she said that. But she did say that. As in it was challenging to get her groove on to. And I agree. For me as a listener, it weights down the proceedings. Busts the mojo, a tad. Yes, it develops and blossoms into a wonderful flower -- but it weighs "unearthly" on me after the righteous, bitchin' That's Not Me. Fcking love That's Not Me. I'm stickin' with my vote.

I shouldn't like "Don't Talk" because I'm generally not into slow songs at all, but that one is just so hypnotic. It can't go yet.

Here Today That's Not Me is the one I miss the most, from what's gone. I had nothing to do with voting off those instrumentals either. What can you do? We are taking apart one of their best records. At this point I'm trying to protect my real favorites.

Even though I'm a mono guy, there's many moments on the stereo that just have to be cranked. I Know There's An Answer is one of 'em. Even the backing track (from the session box) is a highlight. What an insane production! The off-kilter piano riff. The clarinet/oboe(?) breaks (just what are those chords?!) The banjo. And the harmonica! O' the blessed harmonica!

Don't Talk (Put Your Head On My Shoulder). It's a beautiful song, but it does the least for me of the remaining tracks.

Hey Little Tomboy is creepy. Banging women by the pool is fun and conjures up warm summer thoughts a Beach Boys song should.

Hmm. If I'm picking from my least favorite remaining tracks it would have to be between You Still Believe in Me and Don't Talk.
I'm going with Don't Talk this time.
