lawl @ folks thinking it's a Smile box set.

Regardless of the fact that it's extremely unlikely, it's even more unlikely as I don't think anything of the sort will ever come out in Brian's lifetime, sadly.

I'm still not convinced Mike Love was a founding member.

After all...it was Dennis' idea to do a surfing song... Mike, Brian and Carl has been leaching onto the band ever since.

After Mike Love, has Bruce played more Beach Boys' shows than any other Beach Boy?  Huh

I don't know the exact numbers, but I would guess so.  The only years that Bruce missed in touring were 1961-1965 and 1972-1978 or so, totaling at 12 years, and he's been touring with Mike for 15 years or so since Carl's death (which Al hasn't been part of, aside from C50), so in terms of the number of years he has both Carl and Al beaten.  And that's not taking into account the fact that I think Mike and Bruce now do more shows per year than the band did during Carl's lifetime.

Was Bruce the first band member to wear shorts onstage? And why didn't the other pick up on his mic adjustment tricks?

I'm surprised that Bruce, David, Blondie and Ricky weren't inducted with the other Beach Boys.
Look at the Rolling Stones a year later. All of the members, past and present were induced. Even Ian Stewart!
So why not the other Beach Boys? That's something I've always wondered!

Blondie and Ricky were on two classic albums, the Beach Boys's best live album and one hit single. Their era is the most underrated. I think they should be inducted just as much as Bruce and David.

I remember hearing that Bruce was later inducted, much like the other Miracles, etc.  No ceremony but they supposedly gave him the statue and fixed the exhibit.

I don't remember but I bitched about it for years (regardless of one's feelings on Bruce, he belongs in there with the rest of the guys) so I definitely took notice when I found the error was corrected.  Unfortunately, time has claimed the details from me so for all I know it could have been second hand and wrong.  The only reason I'm still convinced is that it's so obscure that I think if it were reported it had to be true.  That and the fact that the Hall has been known to append bands' inducted members on other occasions as well.

Al Jardine was a foundling member of the Beach Boys.

Brian will never forget the day there was a knock at his door. When he opened it there was no one there, but then he heard a whimpering sound, and there was Al, on his doorstep, wrapped in swaddling, in a shoebox.

Brian, being a kindly soul, did not kick the shoe box down the street (as Mike would have done!), but instead took Al in, and raised him as his own. This explains why Brian and Al sounded quite vocally similar at times.

Now if they could only find the other half of that locket.....

Dave's wiki page said his situation with the Hall of Fame was "rectified in 2007".  I'd hazard a guess, that's when they took care of Bruce as well.
