So.....the premise of this thread is "alternate track listing for the Surfin' Safari album", right? So since this album we're talking about was released in early October, 1962, wouldn't the alternate track listing be for songs recorded up to the point of the album release (pre-October '62)? That's what an alternate track listing means to me - songs that were already recorded that were possible candidates for inclusion on the album (or outtakes) instead of the released ones.

Surfer, you listed songs released in 1963 and 1964 that weren't even written yet. So how could they have been "alternate tracks" for an album released in 1962?

You really should've contributed liner notes for the boxed set. I want more album track listings annotated this way. Sometimes I'm not sure what these early songs are actually about and you just cut to the chase. "Song about Indians." Ahhhh. yes.
