Check this out on the M&B front.

And production aside, I’d so much rather hear a 14 year old David Marks shred some guitar on Chug-a-lug than hear a 51 year old Mike Love sing about bangin some chick in a swimming pool.-rab2591

"When the bride stopped by the concert, she was brought on stage for the encore and played the tambourine next to Mike Love as he sang 'Fun, Fun, Fun'."

Someone here might have raised eyebrows at this…   Shocked

It never ceases to amaze me how the diehard Beach Boys fanbase "gets around".  I have yet to read an article spotlighting Mike Love or M&B where the comments section doesn't have at least one comment about how M&B aren't The Beach Boys or deriding some aspect of Mike Love's professional persona/career.  Not saying that I disagree with some of what these individuals say but trolling Mike Love certainly does seem to be a never ending vendetta for some.

That's no way to talk, they were only getting married....

I think that's a real nice gesture for Mike to do that. If he interrupted my wedding, my whole family (50 strong) probably woulda been over there taking advantage of his offer, at least for awhile. And to go on stage with the band? Once in a lifetime opportunity. Eff the reception, let's go next door (even if it is only Mike and Bruce!) Not sure my new wife would have gone for it, but my extended family sure would have understood!  Grin

I, I love the colorful clothes she wears, and she's already working on my brain. I only looked in her eyes, but I picked up something I just can't explain. I, I bet I know what she’s like, and I can feel how right she’d be for me. It’s weird how she comes in so strong, and I wonder what she’s picking up from me. I hope it’s good, good, good, good vibrations, yeah!!

Another post of the year candidate for us here...

Seriously though if I was Mike Love I'd be flattered that I at seventy-two years young actually have haters.  The fact that these individuals who continue to troll Love on the internet are probably decades removed from being first generation Beach Boys fans to me at least makes it even more hilarious.  Seriously I can understand why a lot of people can't stand many of today's headlining pop acts but Mike Love?  Seriously?  I might not care for some of the decisions he's made in regards to The Beach Boys professional career but as things go the guy is fairly harmless.

Nah, maybe a post of the day, but let's get real here. Post of the week, month, year, decade, life of the board, Hype's got some stiff competition.  Cheesy

I think you're grossly underestimating the number of people who've been turned off by Mr. Love's behavior over the years. I've talked to quite a few general music fans, and the two things they know about the band are that Brian is a genius and Mike is an asshole.

I don't think I am.  Mike Love has not done much to aide his cause in how he is viewed by Beach Boys fans or diehard music fans in general but at the end of the day, a harmless entity he is.  For whatever he's done right or wrong in terms of his public persona at the end of the day he's just a rock star who goes out every summer, performs to a paying audience and sends them home happy.  You'll never catch me at a M&B show because I don't consider them to be The Beach Boys but you'll also rarely (if ever) find me trolling random forums on the internet making negative posts about Mike Love.  The reason being is at the end of the day, Mike's public persona or demeanor doesn't really amount to much either way at least in my view.

One of the comments below the article:

If Brian Wilson isn't there, they're not the Beach Boys . Congratulations to Mark and Jaime . "Wouldn't be Nice."

Ha Ha Ha!  Good one.   Grin

There are two threads with this same topic so I'll post the Good Morning America clip with Mike and Bruce here, too.

Nice segment with Mike and Bruce and the newlyweds.

Here's the video:

Mike just HAD to do the "Fun Fun Fun" joke again.  It's so weird: it looks like even HE doesn't want to do it yet he always does!
