Well now that the other questions have been answered, anyone hear a 1977 Papa-Oom-Mow-Mow?

Glad to see that cleared up. Obviously info is only as good as its source but stomp was usually an excellent source with contributors like agd who were careful with facts.  Its wild that a contributor would just make up facts but it illustrates how careful you have to be. I've had fans gush about shows they saw in 1974 and how great brian sang and I try to explain that brian played no shows in 1974. But they just won't accept that their precious memory is not correct

In the very best case, those songs were maybe played over the PA system before the shows in 1993, if even that.

I think STE's explanation is a plausible one; before most of the box set shows there was a meet-and-greet organized by Tone Soap (the sponsor of the mini-tour) for the purpose of entertaining its key clients in whatever city the show was held in.  I managed to get into the one in Atlanta (as did AstroRay -- hi Ray!), and in the hospitality room they had the box set playing while the guys were getting their photos taken with people.  I wouldn't be surprised if the person in question was invited to the one in Valley Forge.  A few cocktails, plus the excitement of hearing an amazing set of songs with brand new arrangements, and voila -- the story is rewritten as they played those songs at the concert.

Ian, when I have time I'll PM you with some additional facts about the New Years' Eve 1964 show in Charlotte -- I have a color photo of the poster for the show, and Dave and I ran an article in ESQ written by a guy who attended the show and talked about how they gave Glen Campbell a solo spotlight where he came out and played "Foggy Mountain Breakdown" on the banjo.

Here is an excerpt from fred crafts review in the eugene register guard : "with the crowd stomping and cheering for an encore, carl raced downstairs to drag the band back on stage ...onstage carl and dennis improvised billy prestons you are so beautiful while the other members of the band gathered their instruments.  Then love crouching low started into papa oom mow mow and the audience erupted into ecstatic applause. As the band romped through Barbara ann, rock and roll music and fun fun fun most of the audience stood and stomped its feet "

There was one guy a few years back who went to the trouble of making up roughly 50 setlists, most with very unusual inclusions, ranging from the 70s to the 90s. I started posting them, and fans stated asking if they were for real. I was in the midst of posting 100s of lists, and hadn't really been paying close attention. At first he denied it, but after a while I realized he was lying. What a pain it was too go back and remove made up entries.

About 4 minutes into this video "review" of the July 14th 1965 concert poster, Pete Howard talks about and  shows a photo of the December 31, 1964 poster:

One of the MOST annoying things about last year's 50th reunion tour was that a few shows into it a couple of different people started posting very detailed concert reviews with fake set-lists on Brian's message board, which included things like Solar System and Johnny Carson, and of course all kinds of people just bought it as fact, and even re-posted the info on facebook and maybe even on this board. I think that trend generated one of my all-time vicious seething responses on Brian's board because crap like that is one of those stupid cowardly and pathetic things that really gets under my skin. That's like vandalism, and the thought that someone out there thinks its funny or worthwhile is so damn sad. Ian and I did our best to filter out the nonsense of which there has been a surprisingly large amount written about the band and their shows, but sometimes when vintage reviews include obvious wrongly written titles and/or dumbishly misguided commentary it actually adds a fascinating dimension to the day by day discourse surrounding the band. It must have been such a circus for them, going from obsessed fan-nerds who know every useless detail (like me)...to the pompously disinterested, to the annoyingly naive etc... To be trying to sing "Caroline No" and have drunken sweaty meatheads yelling "I Get Around" in your face year after year...at least we have the satisfaction of knowing Dennis punched a few of them.

My guess is that the guy who sent me all the fake setlists is one of the people posting fake info on the board you are talking about..
