Playlist Sequence Help
«
on:

I'm looking for suggestions on how to sequence the following list of songs. Right now, my only ideas are opening with Meant For You and closing with Break Away.
Meant For You
Wild Honey
Let the Wind Blow
Darlin
Wake the World
Little Bird
Do It Again
I Can Her Music
Cottonfields
Time To Get Alone
Never Learn Not To Love You
Soulful Old Man Sunshine
Loop de Loop
Break Away
And also, here's a second playlist I'm working on. Please no one give me crap about SDT. Looking for a good sequencing.
Got to Know a Woman
Sail On Sailor
Funky Pretty
Goin' On
Back Home
Mona
Pacific Ocean Blues
Dreamer
Ding Dang
Sea Cruise
Student Demonstration Time
I Just Got My Pay
Mrs. O'Leary's Cow
Thank you!

Magic City Surfer, if you don't mind, I'd like to take a shot at your first comp...
01 Never Learn Not To Love
02 I Can Hear Music
03 Time To Get Alone
04 Wild Honey
05 Loop de Loop
06 Let The Wind Blow
07 Breakaway
08 Cottonfields
09 Do It Again
10 Darlin'
11 Wake The World
12 Soulful Old Man Sunshine
13 Little Bird
14 Meant For You
I know I'm in a very small minority, but I've always found "Meant For You" to be a perfect CLOSING song for a comp!

For your second one, I'd do like they did with the "Elvis Country" album. On that one they put snippets of the song "I Was Born About 10,000 Years Ago" in between each album track. You should do this with "Ding Dang".
Ding Dang
Got to Know The Woman
Ding Dang
Sail On Sailor
Ding Dang
Funky Pretty
Ding Dang
Goin' On
Ding Dang
Back Home
Ding Dang
Mona
Ding Dang
Pacific Ocean Blues
Ding Dang
Dreamer
Ding Dang
Sea Cruise
Ding Dang
Student Demonstration Time
Ding Dang
I Just Got My Pay
Ding Dang
Mrs. O'Leary's Cow
Ding Dang

I knew that Sheriff John Stone would be the 1st poster on this thread! Dig your famous "playlist disease" (& famous use of police smiley). OK, I'm next in the game:
I. 1. Loop De Loop
2. Darlin'
3. Break Away
4. Never Learn Not to Love
5. Wild Honey
6. Let the Wind Blow
7. Meant for You
8. I Can Hear Music
9. Wake the World
10. Cottonfields
11. Do It Again
12. Time to Get Alone
13. Little Bird
14. Soulful Old Man Sunshine
II. 1. Funky Pretty
2. Mrs. O'Leary's Cow
3. Sail On, Sailor
4. Goin' On
5. Mona
6. Back Home
7. Sea Cruise
8. Student Demonstration Time
9. Pacific Ocean Blues
10. I Just Got My Pay
11. Got to Know the Woman
12. Ding Dang
13. Dreamer
Forgive me for suggesting rather imbalanced & inconsistent sequencing, it's just how I hear, plus I like unusual segues, mixture of tracks that don't go well together. That said, there are some cuts which I think tried to combine seamlessly. One of those examples - Playlist 1, tracks 9-->10; Playlist 2, tracks 8-->9-->10, 11-->12.
2zane7570: it's good that you notice & take various ideas from other artists' comps etc., but I'm no fan of Ding Dang (least fave on LY). If I were in your place, there'd be no way I'd add it in-between of every song on whichever self-made playlist. Just saying.

Thanks for the ideas, guys. I hope to hear more.
I have found the sequence of Mona/Ding Dang/Back Home makes for a fun 1-2-3 punch.
But I'll give everyone's sequence a spin in iTunes.

I agree. My idea was only a joke.

That's looking pretty awesome. Thanks, Sheriff!
But I might move O"Leary's Cow to the final spot. It just seems too heavy and epic to have anything follow it.
Unless maybe Ding Dang works.

There's a method to my madness...
05 Mona - enough of goin' steady, could we, could we, could we get married?
06 Ding Dang - she said "No"
07 Goin' On - my mind keeps on reelin', my heart keeps on feelin'
08 Student Demonstration Time - so he demonstrates...the winds of change fanned into FLAMES!
09 Mrs. O'Leary's Cow - the flames, with a continuation of the fire sirens
10 Pacific Ocean Blues - water, water, water, water, water, water
11 Sail, On Sailor - time to sail away and think, ponder, dream
12 Back Home - when I get back you won't believe how I've grown - spiritually and emotionally?
13 Dreamer - Let the wind carry your blues away, that's all we're trying to say, how 'bout a better day, fall in love...And the band keeps on playin'...

WOW. Now I'm really digging it. Can we make the other four fit? I can see "I just got my pay, so let me take you on a sea cruise."
So I'd go:
01 Got to Know a Woman
02 Funky Pretty
03 I Just Got My Pay
04 Sea Cruise
Sheriff, you just shut it down.

After he meets the woman, take her on a sea cruise. After he gets his paycheck, take her to a movie...
fast 01 Got To Know The Woman - Oh baby, there's just one thing I want to say
fast 02 Sea Cruise - won't you let me take you on a sea cruise
slow 03 Funky Pretty - cause it's a silent night IN THE SEA
fast 04 I Just Got My Pay - let's get dressed up, and see a movie
fast 05 Mona - how's about a nine o'clock movie, won't it, won't it, won't it be groovy
