In this article it talks about an unreleased album Brian did with Jellyfish in the mid-90s. Is that true? Is there information about it?

He collaborated with a couple of the guys on some things (and sings with them on the Ringo Starr "Time Takes Time" album). But I don't think they finished or recorded much of anything, let alone a full album.

Posted this earlier...
Yeah, they mention working with him on some fan club flexi, I can't tell who's who, but it goes like..
Jelly: Oh yeah, and Brian Wilson came down to the studio...
Fish: Ah yeah yeah...
Jelly: That was, er, that was a lot of fun. *Nervous laughter*
Fish: Actually it wasn't a lot of fun. But it was interesting.
Jelly: We had a lot of fun. So we might be doing some writing with him.

All roads lead to Kokomo. Exhaustive research in time travel has conclusively proven that there is no alternate universe WITHOUT Kokomo. It would've happened regardless.

A quote at the time was "he's like a very big computer with a very small printer". I.e. he had good ideas but could not convey them. Most probably Brian did not care for Jellyfish, just like he did not care for Sean O'Hagan.

This was part of a whole period -- post-Landy but pre-Melinda marriage -- where Don Was was trying to get Brian interesting in collaborating with some snazzier young pop artists. Didn't work out very well.

Any Beach Boys fan should be a huge Jellyfish fan.
"Split Milk" is easily the Pet Sounds of the 90s with production and top notch songwriting and arranging.
Vocals are amazing too.
Check out "The Ghost at Number One" there's a huge section in the middle that is a direct homage to Pet Sounds.
I've read other reports of what Andy and Roger said about "working" with Brian and that sometimes he would just get up and leave to "take a nap."
Pretty weird.

I think Roger released one of the songs they tried to co-write, but with any elements of Brian's songwriting contribution removed.

I love Jellyfish, but always felt they were more of a cerebral than an emotional band, like the Beatles rather than the Beach Boys. Their vocal harmonies seem more reminiscent of Queen than the boys to me, but then again without the emotion I hear in Queen's vocals as well.

Jellyfish rule the school - I advise anyone who hasn't checked out Roger Manning's Land Of Pure Imagination record to do so immediately, it has some prime jams on it. Sturmer seems to have travelled the path less followed, tho - a shame, as he could have done immense work.

Glad I found this thread.
I've always thought some of Brian's solo tracks most notably Meet Me In My Dreams Tonight and Your Imagination have a similar production quality to them as Jellyfish.
Do you think that 'sound', the sort of glittery poppyness was just because of the time period or what?
How much interaction was there between The Wondermints, Darian, Brian, Jellyfish et al?
