Has anyone got photos of his parents and brother? For all these decades I have never come across a photo...

There's a well known photo of his parents which has, over the years, been erroneously titled as Audree and Murry Wilson Thud

7th page down, the wagon shot. I think that's his brother, Neal, on the left.

Reminds me of Matt - very similar – though that's maybe matt at the front of the wagon? And Lynda? II can only speculate but, hey, what a beautiful programme.

LOL, there must've be something in the clean air of Big Sur that would allow a then 9 year old to grow a full beard!

AFAIKT, L to R: Neal, Al, Matt, Lynda and Adam.

Hi all,
The wagon shot was taken on my Dad's ranch in Big Sur. The guy with the beard is my Mom's younger brother Lynn Sperry. He was the ranch caretaker during that time.

Glad I could help in answering your questions. And yes, Big Sur was a great place to grow up back in the 70's & 80's. Very removed from the L.A. lifestyle, very rustic. And I don't mean Vail, CO rustic. I mean rustic, as in 30 miles from the nearest grocery store rustic. Or, when an El Nino winter pounded us, we'd have hurricane force winds ripping through Big Sur & 20-40 yard sections of highway would slide into the ocean & no electricity for a week. It was, & still is (when Mother Nature lets it all hang out), a wild & partly untamed part of CA.

Thanks Matt, I too enjoyed the pics of Big Sur. My wife and I had the pelasure to visit the area a year or so ago, and we loved our time spent on Pfeiffer Beach near your dad's ranch. We also visited Mckay Falls, Nepenthe for lunch, and the Henry Miller library where you guys performed. I fell in love with the whole area; definitley a special place.

What can I say?  For me it's a huge honor to sit at my computer and post on a message board with (1) the son of Al Jardine, (2) a young man who has performed alongside the Great Carl Wilson, and (3) a man who not only sang with the Beach Boys but one whose voice added to the band's greatness.

Thanks for your comments, Matt.  Here's hoping you won't be a stranger to this board.  Cool

Matt, we love your dad and frankly dedicate so much of our aesthetic life to the BB and to his distinct role in all the endless joy they--and you as well in many guises, including Cal saga--have brought us. The Professor particularly loves that tribute to your grandfather in Postcard. Your dad is a man of pure integrity and genuine character, traits all too rare in contemporary society. I know I speak for many here when I say we pledge our loyalty to you and your family and that we cannot calculate how much your dad has given us.

Thanks for 'A Postcard From California'. It remains one of my favorite Beach Boy related albums.  Fantastic work!

Al Jardine continues to bring happiness through his and the Beach Boys music. Nice to see you here, Matt!

Thank you, Matt!  Ever since I picked up that concert program in 1975 (Oakland - Day On The Green - Beach Boys/Chicago) I wondered who that guy with the beard was. Now I know!

I live in Sillycon Valley and remember all those storms and fires around Big Sur very well. Saw you guys play a gig at the Henry Miller Library in Big Sur in October, 2010.  Before the show, dropped by the Big Sur Deli for a sandwhich, then after the show, the girlfriend and I had to walk back to the car on Highway 1 in pitch black forest darkness!

Second the opinion that you do sing a mean "Hushabye".  And Surfer Girl.  And this one too:

And who's the tall guy with the pony tail singing the high parts here?  Jeff Foskett ain't got nothin' on you man!   Grin

I, I love the colorful clothes she wears, and she's already working on my brain. I only looked in her eyes, but I picked up something I just can't explain. I, I bet I know what she’s like, and I can feel how right she’d be for me. It’s weird how she comes in so strong, and I wonder what she’s picking up from me. I hope it’s good, good, good, good vibrations, yeah!!

There's a great Hunter Thompson pic from his Big Sur days that makes me ooze jealousy.

Appreciate all the feed back. Big Sur reminds me a lot of the New Zealand coast line on the opposite side of the Pacific.

Well..........I'm just wondering if Matt came back here and saw my post and it scared him away.  Maybe I looked like a fanboy-stalker with all the accolades about the past thrown in his direction. I hope not!

Matt, if you're still around, we'd like to see you post more around here, especially with recollections from being on stage with your Dad and/or The Beach Boys and if you have future plans in the studio or gigs on the road.  Smiley

Yeah - what about those summer gigs and BBs pre-shows by California Saga that were alluded to by Mike & Co. in 2012?
