http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/beachboys50bluray.php

This guy gives the disc a bad review but not for the same reason several of us have given it a bad review.  He goes out of his way to say how the tour's reviews were generally negative, how the tour was "cut short" because Mike Love fired three of the members, and that the performances were lackluster.

And DVD Verdict is a site that I enjoy regularly usually full of great insight.  This guy obviously does not know his stuff.   Computer Smash!

Probably just Mike-haters. They like everything that mentions how he bad he is....

PRO SHOT BEACH BOYS CONCERTS - LIST

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

Now 8 out of 29.

What a crock that was.

Perhaps the first couple of shows were "a little rough", but that's understandable.  it sure wasn't "rough" in Las Vegas.  Just the opposite, to quote Sherman Potter, it "put the "ooooh" in "smoooooth" and rocked all night long.

I took a minute to report the review as ridiculously inaccurate in every respect about the band and the show. Let's waste no more time on it, but please follow the Professor in taking a minute to report the review as rubbish; there is an email link to do this.

Nice little write-up.  Out of curiosity, has Mike explicitly stated that he would consider carrying on with the reunion line-up after the new year like the article states?  (Not trying to stir sh*t up - promise - just genuinely want to know if he has said that)

His letter to the LA times in part....

Near the end of the very last show in London, right as Brian started singing "Summer’s Gone" off the new album, I started thinking about our journey together. I’m wondering if we’ll all get to do this again or if this is it. I’m standing proud that we came together, put our differences aside and made this tour happen. I listen:

Summer’s gone,

Summer’s gone away…

Old friends have gone

They’ve gone their separate ways

Our dreams hold on

For those who still have more to say

And at the end of the song, I have an epiphany: The Beach Boys are bigger than those who created it. When all of us remaining founders have turned to dust, the band will live on in the hearts of those who relish the sounds of summer.  So you see, summer’s never really gone. And neither are the Beach Boys.

....You decide, but to me he does not rule it out but everyone has to understand most of these guys are over 70 now. In the future, even if the mind is willing, bodies may be weak. Time will tell.

Forget this verdict guy.  He wouldn't know a Beach Boy from a beech nut. Some folks just think they have to show how smart they are by shooting their mouths off like this. They have nothing of  value to add, so this is all they can do.

This review almost has nothing to do with the DVD but everything to do with the reviewers personal agenda to rag on Mike Love's Beach Boys touring band.  He gets a few things wrong including how the tour had received a majority of bad reviews and that it was "cut short."  The tour was EXTENDED to accommodate for the huge demand and not "cut short."  There were very little negative reviews.  There's nothing to add regarding the New Orleans gig--it was indeed rough.  The tour picked up right when they hit the Beacon in NYC and they were on fire till the end in London.

The reviewer is right to call out the very limited song selection on the DVD---just like we all did.  But for any fan of the Beach Boys---seeing Brian up on stage with everyone else is worth this DVD alone.  The DVD on its own, really struggles to stand by itself when you compare it to other well done DVDs done recently (Led Zeppelin's "Celebration Day") but the DVD does a wonderful job to complement the experience for any fans who attended a concert on this tour--it's a great way to relive the memories andthis  makes up for the DVD's many shortcomings.  Not really fair for the unbiased reviewer but that's just the way it is.

I, I love the colorful clothes she wears, and she's already working on my brain. I only looked in her eyes, but I picked up something I just can't explain. I, I bet I know what she’s like, and I can feel how right she’d be for me. It’s weird how she comes in so strong, and I wonder what she’s picking up from me. I hope it’s good, good, good, good vibrations, yeah!!
