Stern is so great at stripping away the bullsh*t from the same old BB interviews and getting to their core. His Brian ones are fantastic, is the first one anywhere? I think I've only found one of them online.

Mike's got a point with Rolling Stone hating the Beach Boys (or better, hating him). A few months ago they mentioned that Mike booked shows for him and Bruce and that Brian didn't even know about it. But the public didn't bite into that. They then did the same thing when that press statement was released and bingo

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

This may be the only Beach Boys related interview where Mike Love is asked if he has a bigger penis than Brian.

Stern has the amazing way to butter-up/mock/tease/flatter his guests without them really knowing it. It's quite amazing when he gets them on his side and he later prods and pokes at them later, and they're laughing along with him.  Impressive!

I'm learning a lot from this interview.  Never knew Mike's reasons for wearing all that bling on his fingers.  Plus, this is the first I've heard of his then new son, Brian Love.  Did I get that right that he had Brian with Jackie?  I've not heard anything about him before...

Mike Love on Howard Stern 1992(Audio)  I came back to the computer, I read those words, I started trembling,  I'm in a state
of near euphoria... been searching for Mike and Brian's Stern appearances for months without luck. Thanks for posting this.

Wait guys, did I understand this correctly? Did Mike say that Dennis told the group he actually saw Manson killing a black man? Never heard about that...  Shocked

Great interview! Wish that we could have more like these instead of the same old stuff.

Brian's interviews with Howard are classic...this one takes the cake, though.

Anyone notice Mike say that he changed John Phillips' "that's where we USED to go" to "that's where we WANNA go" in Kokomo?

I think we found the culprit for the new "Isn't It Time" lyrics   Cool Guy

Who's got links for the BW - Stern appearances?

Google it, they're both around.

Thanks so much for posting---it was incredible!

No prob. More interviews on the way soon. Once I get a cassette player, I'll be able to transfer all of those 70's BW interviews (Sydney '74, KRTH '74, BW & Diane '73, and the famous 1976 KJR Seattle interview.) Happens to be one of the 7 or 8 cassettes that I somehow held onto out of hundreds!

In the meantime, what do you all wanna hear next?

It's worth noting that Mike went back to the HS show (Howard's birthday, maybe?) and sang something. It was during this period, shortly after this nterview, as Stern joked that Mike had claimed songwriting credit fot The Star Spangled Banner.

A couple years later Howard Stern was a guest at Mike's wedding to Jackie.

Mike tries way too hard to build himself up.  "Yeah, I hang out with Muhammad Ali".  Um, that's great Mike.   Roll Eyes
