Just picked up this great deal. I got Today, Summer Days, and Pet Sounds in one package in glorious Mono sound. Avoid the Duophonic copies at all cost.

And production aside, I’d so much rather hear a 14 year old David Marks shred some guitar on Chug-a-lug than hear a 51 year old Mike Love sing about bangin some chick in a swimming pool.-rab2591

Did you get an original Capitol TCL 2813 from 1967? That's the mono. The stereo (Duophonic) is Capitol DTCL 2813. Collectors usually want copies of the mono and stereo versions of the box. Some copies have a blue spine and some have a purple one. I have both - seems like I've seen far less of them with the blue spine.

I had Brian sign mine in his house. He said, "You like that one"? I said, "Yeah, this has 3 of your best albums in here". He replied, "Yeah!!"

I, I love the colorful clothes she wears, and she's already working on my brain. I only looked in her eyes, but I picked up something I just can't explain. I, I bet I know what she’s like, and I can feel how right she’d be for me. It’s weird how she comes in so strong, and I wonder what she’s picking up from me. I hope it’s good, good, good, good vibrations, yeah!!

Uhh, actually...  alot of them have the reddish-purple( tending more towards oxblood) spine and a somewhat lesser amount( the Mono ones) have a black spine. They're ain't no Blue spines. Never was.
If you've got a Blue one let's see a picture. ( and none of this "my albums are all stored away and I can't get to them" drivel) Put it up , brother!

For sure!  All the Mono ones do. And it has the three Lps using their original titles and numbers, right?  ( actual leftover LPs) The later Stereo/Duo copies are all re-titled BBs Deluxe Set, with the 2813 numbering

It's called "maroon". If you don't like that, try "tuscan red".   Learn your colors, meat.

now, I'm no expert, because I've only taken one graduate-level linguistics course, but I have a huge problem with people correcting each other. "alot" is a word because people use it.

let me show you something:

The soft morow ande the lustee Aperill,
The wynter set, the stormys in exill,
Quhen that the brycht and fresch illumynare
Uprisith arly in his fyré chare

And frome his spere his goldine stremis sent
Wpone the grond, in maner off mesag

What language is this, you ask? English. English hundreds of years ago. How did we get from there to here?

People spelling things the way they damn well pleased. People spelling things in a way that were right to them. "Alot" is a valid English word because it is used by a large group of English speakers. Maybe it's not "proper", but there was a time that "from" was spelt "frome", and if you omitted the E it was wrong.

But guess what? ENOUGH PEOPLE OMITTED THAT FUCKING E. Language is not something that's set in stone. It's fluid. It evolves. If a language does not evolve, it becomes a dead language. English is not a dead language. Stop being a dick.

Stop being a dick.

Just taking after you, Dufus. I see you don't have many friends on this board. Ever feel like people are kinda tuning you out and ignoring your posts?  That's what happens when you run around the board trying to get attention like a little kid. What's the matter, don't have anything else to do but make snide comments to people here?   Dick?

Man, you're acting crazy. Calling me out for "mak[ing] snide comments to people", when you just posted three separate posts, all for the purpose of being mean to bgas, just because he didn't know some of these albums had a blue spine?

Yeah, I noticed that people ignore a lot of what I post, but they ignore the things that aren't even reactionary. Two recent examples, things like "I wish John Cowsill had played on more songs on the album." or "My relationship with listening to the Beach Boys is any track can jump out at me at any specific moment. I don't have a specific song that always hits me the same way. It's always something new." That could not even conceivably be construed as me trying to get attention and making snide comments. But whatever. I don't have a lot of friends in real life, either.

For Bigass:

Just checked my vinyl and I have one stereo Deluxe Set (maroon border) and one mono copy (black border). And last night I confirmed from my collector friend from Evansville that he indeed has a Beach Boys Deluxe Set with a blue border. But I didn't really have to ask him because I was with him when he found it in a record store in L.A. in the 70's!

Little factoid for ya. Deluxe sets with blue borders exist! A quick Google search reveals this:

This guy's record database shows that he has one:

http://baseportal.com/cgi-bin/baseportal.pl?htx=/VinylCatalogue/main&localparams=1&range=2540,20

And this Deluxe Set with a blue border is/was for sale for 150 bucks:

http://books.google.com/books?id=XUI1R7jJz2YC&pg=PA101&lpg=PA101&dq=Beach+Boys+deluxe+set+blue+border&source=bl&ots=YOkNrV-76u&sig=eF7F7S0NLF0lmTBmJN3MiLKC8i8&hl=en&sa=X&ei=nA9nUIL_FYbmigKYi4GIAQ&ved=0CB0Q6AEwAA#v=onepage&q=Beach%20Boys%20deluxe%20set%20blue%20border&f=false

And what's the "Crooks book" that you refer to?  Are you by chance talking about Osborne's Price Guide?  I don't even know where my copies are - haven't looked at them in many years.

YEAh yeah yeah. you SAY you were were with him. you SAY he has a copy. But I dont see any evidence. where's the pictures?  Let me guess, He's not on the internet, right?  Or maybe he doesn't know where all of his copies are either!

You probably need to go back to school and take alot of "reading for comprehension" classes!
the "record database" shows estimated prices, low and high, for all the records this person ( deceased) was able to compile, but nowhere does it state that he actually owns them, which of course , would be tuff as he's deceased.  .

the "listing" you SAY was for sale, is only pages  from  "Goldmine Standard Catalog of American Records 1948-1991  By Martin Popoff "
It's a friggin price Guide Mikie!

So, since you don't seem to be paying alot of attention here, I'll say it again:  BLUE SPINES DON'T EXIST.
Unless of course, your friend wants to  take some photos and post them.
Tell ya what, I'll start holding my breath as soon as I hit "post" and then we can compare shades of Blue, when "your friend" puts up.
Or PM me his name/number, so I can get his address and best time for a visit!  I'll drive there! It'll be worth it to see the only "known" existing BLUE BORDER  Beach Boys Deluxe Set

Why would two different web sites (including a guy's record collection database) clearly indicate that their "Beach Boys Deluxe Set" have a blue spine? Just for the hell of it? Or was the guy color blind or just typing that without looking at it? Doubt that. And why would the Goldmine listing list three (3) different Deluxe Sets in one spot; one with a black border, one with maroon, and one with a blue border? Just to confuse people or they're color blind or guessing from memory and don't know what they're talking about? Very much doubt that too.

What's the matter Bigass, you don't have it so it must not exist? Why would I lie to you about something like this? Why would I do that on a public message board and compromise my credibility? TRUST me, it exists, whether you like it or not. I saw one first hand. It doesn't really matter to me whether you think it exists or not.  It's whatever you want it to be, Bigass.

P.S. Learn to spell "a lot".  It's not that hard.  Really!

I hope it’s good, good, good, good vibrations, yeah!!

now, I'm no expert, because I've only taken one graduate-level linguistics course, but I have a huge problem with people correcting each other. "alot" is a word because people use it.

let me show you something:

The soft morow ande the lustee Aperill,
The wynter set, the stormys in exill,
Quhen that the brycht and fresch illumynare
Uprisith arly in his fyré chare
His hot courss into the orient,
And frome his spere his goldine stremis sent

Dick?

Someone correct me if i'm wrong, but this is, like, the best example of irony ever, no? And they say that Phil Cohen is the one who's putting people on.

Man, there are so many quintessential comic book guys on this board.
