I was just looking over the sims 3 thread and it gave me an idea, why don't the beach boys lend themselves out for a video game similar to the Beatles one,it could be called "Harmony" and one can sing either lead or various harmony parts or play the instruments, also we would get some cool Stack o track mixes on it as well, come on capitol you can do it!!!!!! (Like Rob Schnieder would say)

Absolutely no one would buy that except Beach Boys fanatics who play videogames, which is a VERY VERY VERY small demographic.

Yup.

It would be fun, though!  Imagine the expert level!  Lead on "Don't Worry, Baby"!

And I'm pretty sure Beach Boys fanatics would loathe hearing a drunken friend trying to belt out the falsetto on God Only Knows at a party....just sayin'.

Neat idea, but I can't see it being marketed and sold.

Nothing beats drunken friends turning the nasality up to 11 in the effort of imitating Mike's leads/bgvs.

Coop mode features Bruce Johnston controllable by player 2, no doubt. Furiously tap A and B buttons alternately to adjust your mic stand to perfection!

They did this with the Beatles. Harmonix lost A TON of money. It didn't sell well at all.

I'm going to have to do a fake commercial for that, aren't I. Somewhere I had some artwork attempting to craft an Al Jardine sprite, and some experiments trying to do Beach Boys music in 8-bit NES style.

I'm working on some Firesign Theatre stuff this week (super rough High School Madness: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1A5DftXzIqs ) but I think I'll have to get to this one soon. It writes itself, doesn't it?

I really looked forward to release of the Beatles game...and it never lived it up to my expectations.  The novelty wore off pretty quickly...and what it came down to (at least for me) is the Beatles were never a big guitar band.  The guitar parts are fairly repetitive...so it became boring very quickly.

Don't know who Rob Schneider is but I agree with his statement about Capitol creating such kind of game, though in another way than The Beatles' game. Why not? I wouldn't mind if no one, except for the fans, found the BBs-based computer game interesting enough to buy it. I even dare say that the poor sales of this game would only be another evidence of their underratedness & how unique & rare The BBs are. That's my vision. And your mileage can be varied, of course.

God, I tried Good Vibrations on Rock Band. I always thought I was better at picking out harmonies than that.
That game would be amazing, but I'm not sure how well it would do financially.

Say what?   Cheesy

This may be (I'm assuming it is) an opinion based on the game and the way they translated the actual parts into gameplay, but I'd recommend listening to those guitar parts and if you play guitar (or bass), attempting to play along and play the parts accurately and with the same feel.

A recent song I played was "Dig A Pony"...a simple song on the surface...now try to play it correctly as Lennon did while he sang. Same with any number of tunes, no need to list.

Seriously, I hope you were talking about the game because the Beatles guitar parts on those records are sometimes terrific, and terrifically varied enough to keep interest.

It would be more interesting to have a role-playing action drama kind of deal rather than the musical instrument modeling concept.

Think of the possibilities of playing the Van Dyke Parks character in the Smile-era scenario and scoring bonus points every time you get the Mike Love character to say the word "f***" or "formula".

Then use a secret code to be invited into "Brian's Tent" for a few puffs and some long-winded discussion on the subliminal messages hidden in Crest toothpaste ads.

Well, he doesn't seem to be one of the Capitol workers/executives. This picture looks jolly like some movie image. So, is this human called Schneider actually an actor?
yes he is and he's always telling adam sandler that he can do it...

Just checked out that he played in Home Alone-1! He looked very differently than in this photo! Totally forgot that chewing gum episode of the film.

Small correction, it was Home Alone 2.
