It has been a most excellent year to be a Beach Boys fan.  You've got a reunion album (that didn't suck!), a successful live tour, a fanzine (with a somewhat inferior re-recording of "Do It Again"), a brief reunion documentary on DVD and Blu-Ray, and coming soon we have the following releases:

Two complilation albums
Select album re-releases (with new mixes)
Potentially a live CD/DVD of the reunion tour
And a new box set with who-knows-what included in it

Toss in last year's expansive SMiLE box set and it's safe to say we're getting pretty spoiled.  It's hard to complain at the treatment this band is receiving but I have to at least admit that my wallet is paying the price.  No, I'm not purchasing *everything* they're releasing at once, but it's hard to say no to a lot of this.  Glad they only celebrate 50 years once!

Just more neat stuff to add to my collection is all.  It's part of the hobby and it's a pleasure.  I work for a living so I can afford it.

I, I love the colorful clothes she wears, and she's already working on my brain. I only looked in her eyes, but I picked up something I just can't explain. I, I bet I know what she’s like, and I can feel how right she’d be for me. It’s weird how she comes in so strong, and I wonder what she’s picking up from me. I hope it’s good, good, good, good vibrations, yeah!!

Ain't that  a shame.

And production aside, I’d so much rather hear a 14 year old David Marks shred some guitar on Chug-a-lug than hear a 51 year old Mike Love sing about bangin some chick in a swimming pool.-rab2591

My vote is to Reggie!!  Wink

In addition to all the stuff mentioned in the original post I need to add 5 tickets to gigs across 3 countries, flight tickets, hotel and other travel costs.
I won't even want to tell you how much those old men have cost me this year.

I put a lot of money (my parents') into BBs stuff in my teenage years. When I  became older, I deemed a lot of it was useless and gave it away. I kept the essentials, thanked God for youtube and became very selective about what I buy and subscribe to.

It IS a lot in a short time.   The SMiLE box and the new LP.  Prime seats for the tour.  Merch purchased at the show. Travel and Hotel costs.  Not burning a hole in my wallet.   Just keeping it somewhat lighter than usual.
Ready and willing to buy the new box set and recordings of live performances.  Will also buy a quality career spanning dvd bio should it be offered.  And there are some books to be purchased.    Wonder where I can buy one of those stylishly funky David Marks hats?

The larger Smile box was a big investment, but that set and everything they've put out this year feels like it offers a lot of value to fans. People have been suggesting these types of reissues for a while... And they've really delivered. The tour was more than worth the ticket price, to me. I'm just thankful. If you don't have it, you don't have it. But I think having the option at least is pretty great.
