Any Gene Pitney fans around these parts. This guy was a master of melodramatic three minute pop symphonies. His voice is so powerful that sometimes it verges on operatic. I'll post a few of his best/most well knwown ballads below.

It hurts to be in love is a perfect song! I so badly wish I wrote that. I have to let everyone know I didn't, though,
when I break it out during a sing-along.   It's just so good. The changes, once it gets to the "Day and night,
night and day..." part, are so satisfying. Gene plays some fine drums.


Every breath I take is one of my favorite all- time songs. I first heard that on Back to Mono.
It's like Gene Pitney doing a Drfiters record. Gary Chester plays some fine drums.

I always liked him.  Pretty much every single of his I liked.  My favorite thought is "24 hours from tulsa".  I like Dusty Springfield's version better, but he had the original.

I was listening to This is Gene Pitney last night...  real nice, real nice. Smokin  If anyone's looking for a (vinyl) compilation, I would recommend it.
