So whatīs your favourite Clash record? For me itīs difficult to decide between "The Clash" (UK Version) and "London Calling", but i choose the latter one.

I only have Combat Rock, so I guess that's my favorite, by default.

I have to go with London Calling and the U.S. version of the debut album. At least I think it is the U.S. version that has "Jail Guitar Doors". I am at work and dont have a copy on me! They are all great though with the exception of "Cut The Crap" recorded without Mick Jones.

My favourite period is the three singles they made between the first and second albums.
Just picked up the live album yesterday and playing it today - reminds me of asweaty Leeds University auditorium on the Rope and London Calling tours. God they were good. The backdrop with the flags is my fave stage set ever.
Used to have a great tape from (i think) New York on the 1980 tour, long lost unfortunately.
If I had to choose one LP it would be - oddly enough - Combat Rock. Its the only one I still play regularly (I think Straight To Hell is my favourite Clash song, followed by Complete Control.) Sandanista is great but there is a bit of dross on it.
Anyone out there got Ellen Foley's Spirit of St Louis? The great unknown Clash album...wonderful record.

Ah! Spirit Of St. Louis - thanks for reminding me! This was posted on a Clash board, I just downloaded it, you can too:

Most of them can't stand Ellen Foley over there, I don't get it. As if it's a sacrelige to have a female vocal on a Clash record. She was great on "Hitsville UK" and "Car Jamming."

Ellen Foley rules. A real drag she got screwed over royalties on the Meat Loaf album.
Love her vocals.
