Don't have the exact dates in my head, but I think it closed 1967 or 1968. For additional information (and anecdotes) on the Radiant Radish simply read the standard BBs/BW books.  Wink

Or use the board's search function........

There's a good thread (a few months ago) about this on the board.

I, I love the colorful clothes she wears, and she's already working on my brain. I only looked in her eyes, but I picked up something I just can't explain. I, I bet I know what she’s like, and I can feel how right she’d be for me. It’s weird how she comes in so strong, and I wonder what she’s picking up from me. I hope it’s good, good, good, good vibrations, yeah!!

No offence Newguy, but a useful suggestion I'd have for you is generally using the search function before opening new threads. You could easily have posted your questions about the Radiant Radish in one of the old threads, instead of creating yet another one - a procedure of yours which merely clutters the board with superfluous threads.

*sigh*

You should do it every time. You're frankly making the board much worse for a lot of us by lowering the signal to noise ratio a staggering amount. If you have a factual question, it's *immensely* likely that you can find the information by the following method used by *everyone except you*, it seems:

Type your search terms into Google. In this case, typing "radiant radish" into Google gets you, on the first hit, "in 1969 Brian Wilson was a part owner/operator of 'The Radiant Radish' health food store...Unfortunately though, according to several biographers, the store only remained open for a year, due to the owners lack of business skills, and perhaps the failure to order new stock! ", while the second hit gets you this board, and a thread that shows that in fact it was still open as late as summer 1971.

If that doesn't work, try looking in a book. There are several of these available. Some of them even have accurate information in them.

If *that* doesn't work, use the search function on the board.

If *THAT* doesn't work, then rather than starting your ten thousandth thread titled "what's this?" or "Do you know about this?" start a thread titled something like "When was the Radiant Radish opened and why did it close?" -- that way, only people who might be interested in discussing the subject will bother opening the thread.

And if you *HAVE* to... I mean if you absolutely *HAVE TO*, if this strange compulsion just *WILL NOT LET YOU DO OTHERWISE*... if you *HAVE* to start *YET ANOTHER THREAD* with a generic title like "what's this?", then *DON'T* just post a URL, but actually describe what it is you want to know, so people who want to help you don't have to go through the extra step of clicking a link just to find out what it is you want to be told this time.

Seriously, you are being quite unconscionably rude in your flagrant disregard for basic politeness here. I am *amazed* that people are as polite to you as they are about this.

Don't forget, most of Newguy's threads would be excellent posts for the "Questions that don't deserve a thread" thread.

"Signal to noise ratio".  I like it.  Hopefully Newguy is on the same wavelength.

I believe he's very, very young.  So be firm, but nice.  Somebody should sticky Hickey's guidelines for "what to do before you post a question."

It is kind of a shame because just this past year there was a "Radiant Radish" thread that not only provided some rare interior photos, but also an actual photo of the storefront and sign as it existed while in operation (which was sourced from a cookbook...), and some street shots of that location as it looks today, courtesy of some Google street views I captured.

I have to chime in and add to the chorus: A search on this board's archives for "Radiant Radish" would uncover what I'd say without doubt is the most information you'll ever find on that store available anywhere, in a historical context.

He's supposedly in his mid twenties. How old do you have to be before you are expected to learn basic netiquette?

He could easily fake his age on the internetz.  Wink To me he seems like 12-14 years old. I agree with aeijtzsche.

I'd recommend doing that search and finding the information in that thread. It's the exact answer to the question being asked, and as much as you'll find on the Radiant Radish. Case closed. Smiley
