Best Buy online has the remasters for $9.99 and free shipping.  Do charge state sales tax though.  I just ordered all 11 remasters!

There are twelve - you missed one!
For some reason Best Buy doesn't offer the mono/stereo Pet Sounds. While you can order the new Greatest Hits, they do not offer 50 Big Ones.

My thought is that since they did skip around some, including "Holland" and "Love You" wouldn't have been unwelcome.

Just sayin'.

That said, maybe the box set will have most of the best bits from those albums and "20/20", "Wild Honey", et al.

I'm pretty confident that they will re-release the rest of the group's studio albums. Who knows, maybe they'll announce that the other ones will come out when the box set does. Wouldn't that be quite an expensive day for any of us?

The thing is, the 12 studio albums weren't in the original plan.

Capitol only changed after seeing fan reaction to the Japanese releases. And that was all they were going to be, was Japanese releases.

So getting another 12 album re-releases, or however many, might be a stretch. Point is, it wasn't in the grand plan to start with, so who knows if it's figuring into their next year or so worth of plans.

He also said these twelve would never be released here. Face it Wirestone, you set your sights extremely low so you'll never be disappointed and will never see incoming earth-destroying meteors and can walk down the string goin "HUM BEE DEE DEE HUM BEE DEE DEE NO NO NO EVERYHONE AROUND ME SCREAMING NOTHINGS GOING WRONG SOMEONE JUST SAID 'METEOR' THEY'RE WRONG I CAN'T SEE IT OH LOOK A PENNY" and then you start to feel a little hot because the meteor approaches but you just keep looking down and then the meteor hits you and then my friend... you die. And THEN MY FRIEND YOU DIE, MAN.

Can anyone here enlighten me on the mono and stereo quality of these remasters:

All Summer Long

Today!

Summer Days (And Summer Nights!)

...and provide a reason why one should purchase these, when one already owns the 1990 twofers?

And will remain Stack-o-Tracks a dark horse in the whole reissue bonanaza? (I love that one dearly).

Thanks in advance.

Well, I can't comment on ASL, but I plan on purchasing it soon. The other two. mono wise, do sound a tiny bit better, but nothing worth purchasing - although PLMW is like a mono version of the stereo mix - not muddy but I miss the mud.

Stereo mixes are worth it for these two though. I didn't even realise GDTM was an extraction until the other day when i looked at the notes! I will update later with track by track stereo notes that I made roughly while listening.

As will we all, I expect. I was just posting what AGD had said earlier about the change in plans over the rereleases. Has nothing to do with my outlook on life.

Great! Am looking forward, and thanks.

okay, here goes:

Today!:
Do You Wanna Dance: Stereo adds a certain amount of power to the mix, but lead vocal seems to fluctuate in level and guitar solo sounds like its been recorded next door in a metal room. Fade also longer, but maybe sounds looped?
Good To My Baby: Didn't sound exceptionally 'wide' to me
Don't Hurt My Little Sister: lacks the talking in the intro, less muddy, little else to say. Sounds good
When I Grow Up: Backing track stereo, vocals less so, Heavy reverb on vocals - too much...
Help me, Ronda: Stereo makes it sound more liek the single version, volume fluctuations still in place. Does sound better though. granted, i wasn't overly impressed before.
Dance, Dance, Dance heard before, but sounds great. Little else to say
Please Let me Wonder: WOTS version by the sounds of it - always a bit too reverby to my tastes, but each to their own. lacks mud though.
I'm So Young: Not exceptionally stereo
Kiss me, baby: Nice and Wide, Mike's doubled 'Woah Baby' at the end fixed to line up.
She knows Me Too Well: Vocal sounds too upfront to me - track almost buried. nice and wide, however.
In the Back Of My mind: Single tracked Dennis, far better, sounds incredible. Lack of fade too.

Summer Days (And Summer Nights!!):
Girl From New York City: no longer fades in, very wide vocals - great sound
Amusement parks U.S.A.: Organ louder, wide vocals again, distorts at points?
then I Kissed Her: Track sounds a tad reverberant, but has a good stereo feel, although BVs could be a tad louder at first.
Salt Lake City: Stereo track = good, good split on vocals, blends nicely. Sax more noticeable, piano solo much louder.
Girl Don't Tell Me: [Extraction] stereo track sounds good, I didn't even notice it was an extraction!
Help Me, Rhonda: [Extraction] Promising start, but once full band kicks in, right ehad phone 'pumps' to oblivion - second verse especially. Vocals still clean, Piano solo almost disappears due to phase!
California Girls: Great stereo track and Stereo vocals - very suitable
Let him Run Wild: Track and BVs good stereo, lead centre. another very good mix.
You're So Good To me: Reasonably Wide, good split overall, hand claps at end sound more annoying.
Summer Means New Love: 'Safe' Stereo
I'm bugged At My 'Ol Man: VERY narrow - Bvs panned slightly right - thats it.
And Your Dream Comes True: exactly as you'd expect.

Note: i made these notes in a free period at school while doing some other stuff - i may have missed things, but it'll do for now Grin

As for Kiss Me Baby, that whoa, whoa near the end on the mono; why was it kept in the Andrew Sandoval stereo mix on EH v1, but is missing or "lined up", as Freddy says above? Actually, I am so used to hearing it on the mono mix  for 47 plus years, that I just can't get used to it being missing on the Linett mix(es). What is more correct?

All Summer Long CD sounds fine to me - no clicks that i can hear.

Very pleased they've extended the fade on the album version of Fun Fun Fun. Shut Down Vol 2 - what a great, under-rated album, and sounds even better in stereo.

Well, i always assumed it was just poor double tracking, but I liked it. I guess Mark felt more like taking some liberties on these stereo mixes, like the singled lead on 'In the Back of My mind', whereas they were trying to be faithful before.

I assume theres little to no point of running down Smiley Smile, and even less for party, which can be summed up as a whole anyway.

We've only ever had the stereo version on Shut Down Vol. 2, and that still has the truncated fade. The mono album mix, which has been on many a compilation, has always had the same long fade as the single mono mix.

I always wondered about that, because Sandoval's mix is very wide, yet matches the mono mix. Mark's mix is more narrow, but is different with the whoa, whoa's. Could the tapes used be different?

Great rundown, mrmoustachioto, but you're kind of a dick for not illustrating the differences in the stereo mix of BSwtBD. Easily my favorite song on that album.
