Charlie's cheesier than I would have expected. Now stinking up a hotel bar near you...

I think they're really great songs. I love his voice and chords.

There's a fine line with this music between "cheesy" and "beautiful". I'd go for the second.

Yeah. He obviously knew his sh*t with music. No wonder Dennis Wilson was so drawn to him. This music could woo anybody over...

Perhaps i'm heading down a wrong path with this.... eh

Gig Young murdered his wife. Don't mean his performance in They Shoot Horses Don't They was not great.
Jim Gordon murdered his mother. Doesn't mean his performances on BB records and his brilliant piano section of Layla aren't great.

I like the sinister laugh at the end of invisible tears. Creepsville, man.  Why is 'My World' cut off??
I've heard his Cease To Exist, but I don't have any of his stuff... Please post more H&V/ Ian!

Is it true that he also wrote "Be With Me"?

I've only just come across these songs myself actually. I was hoping this thread would encourage whoever has more songs to post them. My copy of "My World" cuts off too, shame because it's a real nice song.

I don't find the laughing at the end of Invisible Tears creepy. It is what you make of it. If you can listen to "Roller Skating Child" without being creeped out then these two songs are easy. There's nothing seemingly sinister or strange about these songs

In retrospect, it's just the events that transpired make this creepy... I can hear some PC individuals saying- "There's nothing funny about Charles Manson laughing."

I saw this wicked wild interview with him in the early 80's. I realized why people were captivated by his persona. I was very drawn to the interview and completely fascinated. I actually wanted to see more after that. I wasn't drawn in the same fashion as the people he brainwashed, but rather saw something in the manner that Denny did. Good or bad... undeniably an interesting character.

So I had the two songs on last night on repeat. My Step-Mom walks in curious as to who it is. She obviously was enjoying the songs but I wouldn't tell her who it was.

I finally gave in and told her that Charles Manson wrote and performed these. Her face dropped, and she said in the most dead pan way "Charles Manson was a serial killer....how can you listen to his music?". I didn't feel like telling her that her facts were very innaccurate. I didn't want to be known as a Manson enthusiast or somethiing.

Oh yeah, sorry, didn't see that. Did he just write the words, or did he write the music as well?

Tell the dumb broad that Manson never murdered anyone. You don't want to be known as a Manson enthusiast? You wouldn't exactly be alone if you claimed to be a Manson enthusiast. Remember Ian's words - why feel guilty for listening to music? If it's good, you like it. Big deal. So what if he influenced a slew of murders in 1969 (before everyone jumps on me, Manson didn't kill anyone, I think the real sin is on the members of the Family)? That's like saying you don't want to listen to Brian Wilson's music because he's a cokehead who cheated on his wife and caused all kinds of pain to people around him. It's music for Christ's sake.

I get similar merda for listening to Suicide. People think it's a mockery of the very real issue of suicide.

Dad - "Hey, who does Steve look like now with his beard?"

Step Mom - "Who?"

Dad - " Me from the 70's when I grew mine at his age. That or...Charles Manson".

S. Mom - "He was listening to Charles Manson's music yesterday...*stupid grin*"

Dad - " He made music?"

Steve - "Music is music, and his in this case is very good music. "

Both - "But he was a mass murderer"

Steve - "How can you have lived through the times and his well publicized trial and not know the simple fact?"

Both - ""umm...Did you live through it?"

Steve - *sigh*

She also called his music corny.

She listens to Irish Folk music.

But, that said, keep in mind
he was very fkd up
and so we must remember,
Bottom line though, FUM HIM THE MOURDOROUS BASTARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
because if you
Praise him and you are as bad as I am
despite the fact that
he did have a very eatherel sence of song. A song that only, in my mind, has no fear. He, and in every sence of the word had balls.

Does anybody know what year "My World" and "Invisible Tears" are from?

It's next to impossible to find information on his music and i've found nothing on these two songs.

Maybe it's because i'm too sheltered musically, but those two songs are some of the finest i've ever heard.

While I do think the lonely old man should get a "pick me up" every now and again, i'd be too worried about a group of his followers showing up at my doorway.
