Someone should record this in nice quality and replace the youtube verson so obsessive editors have a better copy to work from. Not that I mean me or anything.
Great Murry, I thought! Other than that...

ontor pertawst- You can count on me. I'll have it on YouTube by tomorrow (hopefully in one piece because I have no limit on my account). I know you'll probably want it to replace the footage you have on your Endless Syncopation videos, which by the way are awesome.

Wow, VH1 classic is now on the bandwagon. But, is this the best they can do? They could've at least screened Live at Knebworth or Endless Harmony or even BWPS!

I haven't seen it on recently but there was a point where Brian's Pet Sounds Live in London circulated as part of the Classics in Concert series for a little bit.

It's a pretty fascinating mess, but then -- I'm a sucker for bandsploitation. I wish I could convince Cinefamily to screen it this summer, would be a hoot with a crowd hopped up on free beer! They played "Hamburger: The Motion Picture" the other night off a VHS. Surely there is room for crepe hair beards..

According to this movie, it was Brian that was the most dismissive of Dennis' talents... yet he helped Dennis put two songs Friends... sang that soulful vocal on "Forever"... cried when he listened to Pacific Ocean Blue (according to Dennis)...

And when the boys are working diligently on Add Some Music To Your Day, a dismissive Brian (who must've forgotten he wrote the song) comes down and suggests that they should instead listen to him play some weird riff on the piano while they look at him confused (maybe they're confused because Brian is fat and bearded four years ahead of schedule).
Brian, of course, was dissmissive of Dennis's talents because he was presented simply as a selfish man-child who hated any idea that was not his own.
There's a lot more but I haven't watched it in full since it aired.

There was an interview, I swear. I used to have a subscription to Rock's Back Pages and other stuff like that, and read tons of stuff. I can't pinpoint the article now (it's lost in the haze), but I swear to you he said that. Brian laughed, cried, and even walked out of the room at moments, according to Dennis. Brian was speechless. C'mon, Brian can remember enough to cover "Heaven" by Carl Wilson, but he doesn't know Dennis did a solo album? Naw.

Typical movie of the week though it had a lot of Beach Boy involvement so at least with this one you got the real songs (like that one about Geronimo and the Dust Bowl). They also did the thing that I hate in biopics which is take words from Beach Boys interviews (and no one ever speaks naturally in an interview) and put it into dialogue as if it were random, casual conversation. The goal is to make it sound more realistic because you are using real things that were said but the effect is the exact opposite.

I forgot how awful this thing was. It has moments but it is so over the top.
I really hope Oren Moverman does BW's life story justice with his script for the biopic.

Don't forget - in 1967, Brian was a drooling invalid, and "Good Vibrations" was just Brian wailing the title over and over on top of a theremin and bassline until Mike finished it. Brian also sounds and acts like a mutant hybrid of Jeff Daniels from Dumb And Dumber and that asshole dog from the Catdog show.

It's so bad. All the reasons brought up in this thread so far don't even start to cover it.
