I subscribe to Verizon FiOS and there's a channel called FUSE (#716 here in Pittsburgh, PA). Tonight, Sunday at 6:00 p.m. e.s.t. there is a program titled LIVE FROM BONNAROO 2012. Check the listing:

Live From Bonnaroo 2012

Bonnaroo 2012 presents the annual musical spectacular in rural Tennessee, showcasing the talents of some of the biggest names in the music industry, including Radiohead, the Beach Boys, Phish, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Bon Iver and the Avett Brothers.

(that's the listing description provided by Verizon. I'm sure it was submitted by FUSE)

Cool seeing a fifty year-old band almost getting the top headline spot. We know they are legends. I don't know about Radiohead...I don't know them.

It's a two hour program. Maybe we'll see three or four songs.

I hope you all  have access to this channel. FUSE looks like the MTV of this current era, all music videos at least most of the time. I think I've watched this channel before but it's been a while.

What an amazing year for the Beach Boys!

Comments here tonight!  Ahhh!

'Bout time you try and check it out, they've been around since early 90's.

I've heard Radiohead before but I don't own any of their albums. I guess what I was trying to say is that I know the Beach Boys well but I don't know Radiohead that well. I'll check them out tonight.  Smiley

According to Thom Yorke, Kid A was supposed to capture the atmosphere of Pet Sounds.

We had a sound in our heads that we had to get on to tape, and that's an atmosphere that's perhaps a bit shocking when you first hear it, but only as shocking as the atmosphere on [the Beach Boys'] Pet Sounds. Pet Sounds is an incredibly amazing pop record, but it's also an album. It doesn't quite fit the "format," or whatever, but then the sort of things we were listening to were so removed from all that anyway. We weren't really listening to any bands at all--it was all like Miles Davis and Ennio Morricone and composers like Penderaki, which is sort of atmospheric, atonal weird stuff. We weren't listening to any pop music at all, but not because we hated pop music--because what we were doing was pop music--we just didn't want to be reminded of the fact.

I can't think of too many albums which I'd agree that there are parallels to Pet Sounds, but OK Computer is definitely one of the ones where I think the comparison is justified and deserved. Amazing album.

So what's this about ? I thought the Beach Boys' performance won't be broadcasted....

a diseased bunch of mo'fos if there ever was one… their beauty is so awesome that listening to them at their best is like being in some vast dream cathedral decorated with a thousand gleaming American pop culture icons.

PRO SHOT BEACH BOYS CONCERTS - LIST

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

If its not being broadcasted on YouTube, I'm pretty sure it won't be broadcasted on Fuse either. I have Fuse, and I'm pretty sure it's just the same footage as the YouTube channel. I guess I could be wrong. What time are the Boys playing?

EDIT: Just checked this out. The 6pm to 8pm broadcast is LIVE from Bonnaroo, after the Boys are playing.  The 4pm to 6am Best of Bonnaroo broadcast is just a look back at the best Bonnaroo festivals.  So, in short, no, the Beach Boys will not be on FiOS television.

I'll be watching tonight.  As long as everything they play is from the album "The Bends", then yes, I'll agree they're pretty good.  Smiley

Oh Ron! How about OK Computer! Kid A! Hail to the Thief! In Rainbows!

You've got to love In Rainbows.  That's some incredible stuff, and it works for people who don't like the weird sort of other stuff they do.  I freakin' love Radiohead though.

Sorry man, not a fan.  About the time they started saying things like, how they didn't want to make music that sounded good... I was off the wagon.  They've conspired to make music that has little passion in it and no teeth.

They're kind of like those CD's you can buy in the gift card section of Target that play 'soothing sounds' like waterfalls and the wind blowing.

Here, I'll write a radiohead song for you.  First, get some kind of echoey sound going.  Maybe blow through a straw or something into a microphone.  Then use a drum machine to add a bass drum kick about every 6 bars.  Any kind of ambient 'tick tock' type noise you can make by tapping the side of a toilet paper roll or something, dub that on top.

Now, go find an old man who's about 90 and bedridden.  Have him do all the vocals.  Don't do any harmony, and don't add a chorus.  Just ramble on about vacious 'lovey dovey' type stuff about how nobody understands you and you'll probably die that way.

Here's some lyrics you can use

"Jususssst.... goooo awwwwayyyy......

Youuu and meeee were madeee to loooseseeeeee"

"Once wassss a timmmeee whennn nothinnngggg matterrreddd....."

"If I saidddd I was wronnnnng..... woullllddd youuuuu stillll seeee  myyyyy loveeeee?Huh"

etc. etc. rename your stuff every few years so everybody thinks you've changed.  Oh, also make 1 or 2 songs that aren't like this, so fans can point them out to disagree with me Smiley

I've heard all those... just because you take a boring man who makes boring music and have him make boring music louder.. well, I'm sure you know the rest Smiley

It's just not my thing, guys.  I'm glad you enjoy it though.  I hope they keep making music you enjoy.

What's so funny about all those links is, right now they're pushing LP really big on youtube, and have links to her album on every one of those videos.  She's about 10X better than Radiohead and nobody even knows who she is yet.
