Has anyone heard if there will be a CD release of music from the current 5Oth Anniversary tour? A double or triple CD release seems like an obvious choice for the next Beach Boys album. 50 tracks could easily be included. Any thoughts or rumors?

I want an "official bootleg" series with soundboards from every show!

I think a DVD is a no brainer.  CD would be cool too, with the audience mixed up nice and high.

I would like somebody to make a torrent one of these days with ALL the live tour stuff available on it.  I know about 10 of you suckers have them all saved so far.

While I'd love to see an "official bootleg" series of the reunion gigs a la Pearl Jam, I HIGHLY doubt it.

I think a DVD is very likely.

A live CD is less obvious, especially these days. The live recording market has moved almost exclusively to DVDs and Blu-Rays.

You might see (my prediction) a CD-DVD combo, with the CD being either a recording of the live show or just TWGMTR.

Mike mentioned on, I believe, QVC that a DVD (seperate from the PBS special) of the tour taken from several shows was being planned. One would assume that an accompanying CD would come out too, although you never know for sure.

It'll be interesting to see how quickly they put out a DVD of the tour or other tour-related product, as I would assume later this year they might start with the back catalog anniversary stuff (boxed set, new compilation, whatever it is they have planned).

Agreed, although I myself would much rather have a cd than DVD.  I like the DVD, but rarely find myself sitting down to watch a  full concert on tv. The cd I just leave in my car (or download to my iphone, whatever) and listen to it every time I am  in the car.  Much more useful.

Hopefully we'll get both and not have to pick. But I'd prefer a DVD because one of the main unique elements of the reunion tour is the visual element of them all being on stage together. Plus, it's easy to rip the audio off of the DVD and onto a CD. So if for some odd reason we only got one or the other, I'd say the DVD is much more needed. Blu-ray of course as well.  LOL

I expect a DVD release of the show. (there better be one!) Bring on the Blu-Ray as well!! With Extras!!!

But I still want a 3 CD 50 song set that I can listen to in my car or at home. This tour is just too great and well received not to be available on CD.

A combo DVD-CD pack? Great, but don't limit the CD to just part of the concert. We need 50 songs!

Come on Capital!!! WE NEED THIS for the home, car, picnics and parties! Do it! Promote it! It will sell!!!!

It would be nice if a potential live CD had one of every song played on the tour.

I sure hope so.  Outside of the fact that I'm one of the (I'm assuming) few that has not heard a boot from this tour yet, the setlist has gotten so much more interesting since the show I saw in Tampa.

The band are no strangers to live albums.  I'd almost be shocked if they didn't.

That would be good. If it's not getting too close to the moderation policy, what is circulating right now? I have the Sirius show, ten songs from Tucson, Benedum Hall Pittsburgh and Grand Prairie, but I'm wondering what else is out there. It seems that most people are more interested in YouTube videos than audio recordings right now.

(NB for moderators I am NOT asking for copies of any circulating shows here, and for people from Brother I *WILL* be buying *ANY* officially-released DVD/CD/MP3 recordings of this tour...)

Yup, and they mentioned on several of the first shows before I stopped keeping track that the show was being recorded.  Signs and stuff as you enter the venue.

I'm expecting both a BBs 50 DVD and a two disc CD.

How many recently recorded live CDs on a major label have any of you purchased? How many have you seen?

They're not being released anymore. Simple as that.

I really don't care about a tour DVD or live CD or any of that stuff.  Any release of that just takes up a slot where they could release archival material. Before any live stuff is released, I'd prefer the box set and the greatest hits, so we could have more unreleased studio stuff.

McCartney released a few live CDs in the last ten years. R.E.M. did a live double-album two and a half years ago, though it came with a bonus DVD. The Pet Shop Boys did a live album on Parlophone in 2010. A quick look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:2011_live_albums (and the ones for the few years before that) suggests that they do still happen fairly often.

I think Wirestone's just saying that it may not be an actual CD (which is quickly headed for DoDo territory) but something else like a DVD or one of those audio dvd thingies, or a blueray whatever that is.
