Seen by many as the most talented musical composer of the second half of the 20th Century, Brian Wilson’s songs are also among the most memorable ever to have graced the radio airwaves. And while his personal demons have at times restricted the flow of what this giant of creativity is clearly capable of producing, his body of work still remains quite staggering. But like all great writers, he is neither afraid to reveal, nay champion, those who have influenced his work most pertinently, nor to use that influence in his own magical compositions.

What? No sighting of Underwater by the Frogmen.

Inconceivable!

Very cool. Nice to see The Byrds on the list, as well as the Wreck of the John B; Kingston Trio.

Thanks.

Interesting to see Dion on that album twice. I personally love Dion (I named my cat after him when I was 10), and while they did cover the Wanderer in their '64 concert album and I definitely hear some Dion influence in "Pamela Jean" I've never heard him individually credited as an influence by Brian.

Anyone else?

Listen to This Car of Mine and (especially!) Car Crazie Cutie to see the influence Dion had on Brian.

Figured I didn't need to reference Car Crazy Cutie since I mentioned Pamela Jean...

Yeah, not only "Underwater" by the Frogmen but also "Fannie Mae."

Actually, close to half of Dick Dale's Surfer's Choice album could be on there...."Misirlou Twist"..."Let's Go Trippin'"...."Sloop John B"..."Fannie Mae"...

A few years ago I decided that if I were to give Brian a present it would be an original mint 45 of Be My Baby for his turntable to replace his previous copy. Wink
