It must be because they named the album after it. The Beatles didn't name their album 'Dig A Pony', now did they?  Everybody in the group was talking about how great it is in all the early interviews, so they can't all be wrong. That's Why God Made The Radio is longer than Shelter too, and doesn't have any featured vocals by outsiders named Jeff. So, in summation, That's Why God Made The Radio is the best song on the new record. Seriously. Sorry, From There To Back Again, and your oddball Brian Wilson insert about consequences. You will have to settle for silver.

Just wanted to start a rival thread with bOOts 'Shelter' thread. Tongue

While I think its fantastic, I can't quite get on board with it being the best song.  The album's named after it not because its the best song, but because it was the lead single, the title track.

Logically the group and the record company would want their first new single in twenty years (or whatever) to be the best song on the album, yes? Does anyone think there was a discussion otherwise? Like "Uhhh- no, we don't want people to hear the BEST song. They'll have to buy the CD to hear that one. I've got it! Let's make That's Why God Made The Radio the single. It's definitely not the best, but it's still pretty good, and if we name the album after it I think we can get away with it."

I like the title "That's Why God Made The Radio" for a song but not for an album, especially this album....

I like the title for the album:  The sounds contained within this album are the reason God made the radio.  As a song, it's OK but definitely near the bottom (above just "Beaches In Mind" and "Daybreak Over The Ocean") IMO.

Is "the radio" relevant anymore? Do you listen to music on the radio? Will any of these songs be played on the radio - significantly? Sounds a little outdated.

That's why God made the iPhone.

I think the radio is very relevant.  I'm a huge fan of Sirius/XM, and pop music still receives a lot of attention from younger people through the radio.

Although it is pretty amazing.

I love Pet Sounds (the song), but- yeah, sometimes the title track isn't the BEST track. This is one of those times when it is though.
