I have family in San Jose and they get confused by it too but KQED Plus is a new name for Channel 54 in San Jose and it  has always been their PBS channel there.  KQED in San Fran bought the San Jose station out a few years ago and now they changed the name to KQED Plus in the past couple of years but it's still broadcast on Channel 54 if you have an antenna.  I think they changed their tower so people all over the area can get it similar to what Channel 11 did when they were bought by NBC.  It's not a digital sub but a regular channel.  If you have cable the channel is on Channel 10 on most cable systems. Or look to see where they have Channel 54 if it's not on Channel 10.

Hi KittyKat,

Is it possible that in the direct San Fran market that the Plus channel is still available as an OTA digital subchannel? That is, according to the RabbitEarsInfo site (which is updated on a regular basis and which I use all the time), it's still showing KQED Plus as a digital sub in the San Fran area -- 9.2 digital...or 30.2 as a physical channel -- albeit with the call letters that you reference. Also, it shows in the notes as KQEH, channel 54, which it appears is indeed the San Jose mirror that you're talking about (i.e. they simply mirror the digital sub over to the main San Jose- 54 channel and use those same KQEH call letters...both 480i standard def). Thus, it appears to be available both ways depending on where one is located. Smiley

Click on KQED here...and simply follow the trail:

http://www.rabbitears.info/market.php?mktid=6

I didn't know the details.  I just know I have an aunt in San Jose who got confused when her Channel 54 PBS station started calling itself KQED Plus.  I think she already got KQED from SF on her cable and then there was KQED Plus where whatever Channel 54 in San Jose was on.  I just know KQED Plus is still Channel 54 in San Jose but from what you found it seems people who use antennas in SF get it on 9.1.  It gets confusing for people looking for shows on the schedules on two different channels with the same letters in their name.

What new special on Saturday???

The one we're talking about in this thread -- Front Row Center on PBS. It's airing on Saturday night in my area. Smiley

Has anybody figured out if any of the channels or subchannels in the LA area are airing it this month? The schedules don't go too far. Moan. Whimper.

OK, it's a little clearer now.  For PBS, KQED in S.F. is on Channel 9 regular and 9.1 HD Digital.  PBS is also locally broadcast on Channel 54 in San Jose. I didn't think to try Channel 54 last Sunday to see if it was on; I just assumed it was going to be on Channel 9 KQED since that's the most popular PBS station and the one that broadcasts all over the Bay Area. I haven't even watched Channel 54 (a UHF station) since I got my new flatscreen TV last year with HD/digital channels.

So........I'll just wait until next month to watch it on KQED.

Thanks for the info. guys!

I, I bet I know what she’s like, and I can feel how right she’d be for me. It’s weird how she comes in so strong, and I wonder what she’s picking up from me. I hope it’s good, good, good, good vibrations, yeah!!

Hi Ontor,

So far, as I noted in an earlier post and from what I can see, KLCS runs Front Row Center on their main PBS channel, and KOCE runs it on one of their digital subchannels ("PBS OC"). Unfortunately, they're only running the respective episodes below in June. I also verified on both of their websites that the schedules only run until the end of the June.  Perhaps July?

I guess you could always e-mail them to ask if it's indeed penciled in for next month? I harass my PBS station here in Cleveland all the time for schedule info...lol. Smiley

Thanks for the reports!!

Now the question is the usual...  did anyone record it?

Or will anyone for that matter ? I guess I won't have a chance to see it in Germany

Wait WEEKS? Ok, somebody please record this. I'm doing Bela Lugosi hand gestures, so you should feel compelled if you don't already.

Are you sure they're not Brian Wilson hand gestures?

OK-- WHEN IS THIS FUC KER ON OVER-THE-AIR IN PITTSBURGH?? Is it still even called Front Row Center?  I swear the WQED-13 website was designed in 1993. And I can't find SH!T on that stupid site.

Sorry about the rant.  I haven't looked at the television much in several years, and searching listings for one already-delayed show in a sea of 50000000000000 channels is beyond me.

Okay, in the LA/Orange County area, in the next week, there are several PBS  listings for Front Row Center, but those episodes are for Cheap Trick, Richard Marx, and T-Bone Burnette with Elvis Costello and Jakob Dylan.  NO Beach Boys show listed yet!

I did a program search on my cable box for this, and I can't find it anywhere. Will this be on dvd eventually?

I just caught the last half hour of this, pretty cool. A lot of extended interviews from the Vevo videos, Good Vibrations recording footage, Dennis & Carl tributes, 50th footage obviously and a great "Their Hearts Were Full Of Spring" clip from the early 70's with Bruce, Carl, Al & Mike to close it out! Awesome! Now I just have to wait until 3:30 am to watch the first half :/

Just watched it. Pretty good stuff. Brian, during a solo interview segment, seemed  to have a lot more life in him (so to speak) than i've seen in quite some time. There was also about 20 seconds or so of what i'm assuming was a cut that didn't make it onto TWGMTR. Sounded really nice. The black and white GV footage was a real treat to watch. Brian looked so intense in some of those shots.

I agree. I woke up and was able to catch about ten minutes more and that GV footage, he just looks like he knows what's up and super focused. He knows he's into something special. The other guys don't give off that intense vibe like that, but seem to be having fun. Hal Blaine seems super into it. Those solo segments seem older, maybe because Brian's hair wasn't as grey. I liked the unreleased background cut a lot too. Maybe that's part of the suite?

That's what i was thinking too. I thought maybe it was just the lighting because, as i can recall, there were no other older interview clips aired on the special.
