Funny clip about Culture Club. Full interview from American Band and Reagan footage. Cool!

Wow, thanks for that. In the one clip, the longer interview with Brian, Landy was really being obnoxious and domineering. I've never seen him in his element, so to speak; before this, the most I've ever seen him speak was during the Diane Sawyer interview, and in that one, he wasn't next to Brian interacting with him.

I remember being very pleased once to read that Brian was enjoying the latest Michael Penn album, which at the time was, I think, "Resigned".

I wonder if the BB 85 album  which was produced by Culture Club's producer Steve Levine was  already finished or underway at the time of this interview. Maybe this comment was the impetus for them working together? Anybody know?

Brian said that he was quite into new wave during the 1980s. You can hear it in stuff like The Boogie's Back In Town and Black Widow.

He does say "my favorite group of the last couple of years," so maybe he felt like the selection was limited. I mean, now when he's asked what music he listens to, he doesn't talk about the 80s. He talks about the 50s, 60s, and 70s. He's turned into an old fogey with his "today's music doesn't interest me" statements!

Seriously? That is awesome, because "Resigned" still stands among my favorite albums of all time and contains some of the best songwriting of the past 20 years, in my opinion. The vocal sounds, recording-wise, are among the best I've ever heard, owing to a huge collection of vintage mics and a lot of attention being given the recording of the vocals.

I had never heard that about Brian's mentioning the album, but I am not surprised he would have enjoyed it. The album would have been "right up his alley".

I am surprised Michael Penn doesn't get name-checked more often among Brian's fans than I have seen through the years. He's among the more talented songwriters of the modern era.

Yeah, I watched it again and missed "of the last couple years" part the first time. That makes more sense now. I guess he could have been saying that because of the Steve Levine connection, too.
