A friend of a friend will be interviewing Brian and maybe Mike next week and knew I was a fan, so wondered what would be some good questions for them.  I sent a few, but wanted to see if anyone here had any good ideas.

For Brian:

1) What's his favorite obscure song from his catalog?

2) What songs of his does he enjoy playing on the piano at home?

3) What song of his does he feel should have been a hit, but wasn't?

Since Brian's answer always changes....

What is his favorite Beach Boys album?

For Mike:
- what songs on the new album he contributed to and what exactly he did
- what is his favorite song on the new album, beside TWGMTR

He should ask Brian some really obscure questions, like what historical period would he visit if he had a time machine, or what would he do if he was invisible?

For Brian:
-Which version of SMiLE do you prefer right now: The SMiLE Sessions or BWPS?
-Ask about when he composed the material for the new album?
-Feelings on "Sail On, Sailor"?

For Mike:
-Any chance of a digital release for his latest solo stuff?
-Favorite songs from the more obscure albums, such as Sunflower or Surf's Up?

For both:
-Is there any chance you would do a follow up album to this one?
-Any overlooked songs that by The Beach Boys that people should check out?

Why did you (Brian) not invite the Beach Boys to record That Lucky Old Sun?

Here is another one for Brian:

How do you precisely measure 4 litres of water if you only have one 3 litre bucket and one 5 litre bucket with a steady flow of water?  Shocked

Both:

Any chance of adding more Smile material to the concerts (especially since it was a recent hit album) ?

Feelings about hearing and seeing Dennis and Carl on video during the concerts ?

And of course any chance they'll add stuff like Marcella and You Need A Mess Of Help to the set ?

Brian:

How fast did he get the feeling back for arranging the Beach Boys' voices for the album instead of the voices of his band ?

Are there (new) songs that he would rather record solo then with the Beach Boys ? -» Does he distiguish between Beach Boyss songs and Brian Wilson songs when we creates ?

Since he at least wrote one song with Mike, how much did the writing process differ from the past ? Did it at all ?

And of course any chance they'll add stuff like Marcella and You Need A Mess Of Help to the set ?

Mike:

Does he know/realize how much the so called obscure and non-surfing stuff and Smile is loved and wanted to be heard by the fans ?

What does he think about Brian's band ? And did he hear them before (in person, on TV etc.) ?

What were his feelings when Brian got a Grammy for "Mrs. o'Leary's cow" and the commercial succes of The Smile Sessions ?

How does studio work with Brian and the Beach Boys  differ from the past ?

I soooo much would like to ask something about those "Spring vacation" lyrics but that probably wouldn't sound too nice, so let's for get that.

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

Since we can no longer ask when he will finish SMiLE, let's ask this instead:

Brian, when will you finish "Can't Wait Too Long"?

I am sure your friend will pepper Brian and Mike with good questions, but would you also ask your friend to express to Brian and Mike our deepest and profound gratitude, really from the bottom of our hearts, for giving us this beautiful, glorious gift of Music.  Which, also happens to be the Greatest Pop Music Catalog in History!

Yes, like this:

Interviewer: "How was your day, Brian?"
Brian: "Good".

I: "What did you eat for lunch?"
B: "Pizza"

I: "How was it?"
B: "Like a Phil Spector record."

Perhaps keep it current. Questions here are for Brian. Mike would be pretty easy I would think.

First I would express how the tour is being received in such a positive way and is it easier onstage sharing leads rather than him taing the bulk during his solo (Brian) tours?

Are the guys taking care of you on the road? True there is 40 in the tour party? Wives and family following during the summer? Enjoying the new blood of Mikes band?

...and of course. How is the catering? LOL

edit.
One of his better interviews is below. If your friend looks like Zooey in this clip it would help. He is a bit of a smooth ladies man still. Wink

For Brian: What made you change your mind about the reunion?

Are you still working on the Rock and Roll record?

Any chance of working up live arrangements of Love You songs?
