I guess Brian was sick with laryngitis when this 1978 interview took place, but it just makes it seem sadder.

By contrast, here's this

This seems like the 'real' Brian Wilson. I don't know how to explain it, but it seems like this is how he is when he's relaxed and comfortable.

In addition to that, I always enjoyed this little moment from 2 years ago...Brian explaining his glasses in the 60's and his misspelling of his name (Bryan).  Never saw him so relaxed and joking around

One of my favorites is of Brian in 1977ish? When he talks about SMiLE, the up coming Love You album, My Solution, etc. He seems very on top of it in this interview. He seems mentally healthy and normal. Smiley

My theory on the "Bryan" spelling is that Brian was goofing on how then-current bands were substituting a "Y" for an "I" in their names (The Byrds, The Cyrkel) by doing the same thing with his own name.

That interview actually makes me feel quite sad because it reminds me of how much Brian has changed since then. Sad

Also, YYYESSSS. Finally nice to hear him say *something* about those damn glasses, I always wondered why he wore them for all of about two days during the Pet Sounds sessions.

Imagine if you could go back in time and interview Brian right then. You could learn so much.

So, how did the rest of that verse go?
