The Final Cut is an amazing album. That is where Waters finally achieved the wracked intensity of Barrett, which he had been chasing since Syd left the band. Listen to Barrett's Dark Globe, then Floyd's The Fletcher Memorial Home, compare the voices, and you'll know what I mean.

I love Final Cut. It's just not in my top 5 and it's barely even a Floyd album.

Final Cut is hard to rate way up there as a Floyd album, BUT Dave and Nick are there, and in fine form, so what the hell else are you supposed to call it?
Rick's presence is missed, of course, but they were smart enough to jack up the orchestra and not simply replace him with Rick-sounding keyboards.
Across the board, the songwriting is frighteningly strong and intense. I agree with I.Spaceman that Waters peaked in a sense with that album.

wow your the first person that mentioned the final cut..i'm suprised that anyone likes that album..
'The Final Cut' has always been a top favourite of mine. It took a while to grow, but it was worth it. The final 3 songs together form probably one of my favourite moments in the history of Pink Floyd. The Final Cut is an amazing album. That's a very good point and I couldn't agree more. It's good to see that the album gets the recognition it deserves.

'The Gunner's Dream' fading into 'Paranoid Eyes' with that cat moaning, those footsteps and then the piano line coming in is another breathtaking moment on the album. Not to mention Roger's voice fading into the sax in 'The Gunner's Dream'. Just beautiful moments everywhere.
