Silly question BUT do CD Sales at Concerts count towards chart placing ? If so what an opportunity to get the new album out on the merch table , cut out the middle man margin and potentially sale an additional 50,000 units at the U.S. gigs alone , and in doing just this exercise Capitol Records would get all their production costs etc back in a very timely fashion...

Sure CD sales at concerts count.  Smiley Bet the Boys got some merchandise with them on tour.

Good point, they should have all their albums for sale there and place critics ratings next to them, might get more people to listen to highly rated albums like Sunflower, SU, Today, Smiley Smile etc.

Would be excellent if they sold all the original 1961-1977 albums!! (no need to get people into post-MIU albums ^^).

Do not read this particular comment. It contains nothing of interest about the topic of which this thread was named for. Just do yourself a favor and skip down to the comment below this one. Thank you.

I think that would be a great idea for a live disc maybe. I remember the Monkees did that on their 1987 tour. I don't think it would be such a great idea for a new studio album though because many fans want to buy the disc but may not be able to attend one of the upcoming concerts.

Well you don't sell the CD at concerts exclusively, you sell it at concerts in addition to all of the other normal outlets.  I have long advocated this idea.  When the casual fan saunters up to the merch shack and compares a $40 near see-through t-shirt to a brand new $15 cd, I think a lot of those cd's would get moved.

I doubt they'll do this, but I love it when bands have "instant live" CDs, where you get a copy of the recording of the show you just saw!

That would be incredible.... instant bootlegs!

What is this "life" thing you speak of ?
