I've had the CD single for years, but I hadn't seen any of these  BB/Status Quo videos before today...

2/1/96 "GMTV" (With Mike, Bruce, and Carl - Part 1) Fun Fun Fun and Mike interview
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=fvwp&NR=1&v=dGsrtsG_TYc

2/1/96 "GMTV" (With Mike, Bruce, and Carl - Part 2) Bruce & Carl interview (not sure where Mike went)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vDQovF5-ukg&feature=endscreen&NR=1

2/1/96 "GMTV" (With Mike, Bruce, and Carl - Part 3) Bruce & Carl interview (answering phone questions, Carl answers questions about Dean Martin's passing and Brian Wilson rejoining the Beach Boys)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=__yR2MBJnYI&feature=endscreen&NR=1

2/7/96 "Des O Connor Show" Fun Fun Fun (With Brian, Al, Mike, Bruce, and Carl)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A5ZR3HO0wJE&feature=channel_video_title

3/11/96 "Talking Telephone Numbers" Fun Fun Fun (with Brian, Al, Mike, Bruce, and Carl)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TFrTCnMqvCE&feature=related

3/16/96 "The Shane Richie Experience" - Fun Fun Fun (with Carl, Mike, Bruce) & Rockin All Over The World (just Status Quo)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vn4WfZD9DLg&feature=channel

3/96 "Surprise Surprise" - Fun Fun Fun (with Carl, Mike, Bruce) - kind of an unusual TV show
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DFxLhbweBmw&feature=channel

Thoughts?  Cool to see a Carl interview...kind of weird how Brian & Al were there for some performances, but not others...

Alan had to fly home when one of his sons was injured in an accident. Brian, I'm reliably informed, just got bored and flew home.  Smiley

Yep , and because of that ( If i remember correctly ) the BB's had to pull out of a 'Live' appearance on a UK Music TV show , I think it was 'The Word'

I remember hearing that Brian was rejoining the Beach Boys and hoping that something great might come of it. Then I saw them on TV performing 'Fun, Fun, Fun' with Status Quo.....

Nothing against the Quo but really not in the same league as the Beach Boys. Brian looked bored when I saw them on TV and I was not at all surprised to learn a year or two later that the next Brian project was a solo album and not a new record with the Beach Boys.

They'd already performed on the same bill and it must have seemed like a guaranteed hit so not that big a surprise. Unfortunate (or fortunate maybe) that Radio One had changed tack and wouldn't play the song.

Would have been nice to see the recording to witness Rick Parfitt's legendary first meeting with Brian.

'Brian, it's great to meet you!'
'Who are you???'

probably just because I'm American, but the only thing I know about Status Quo is this song.

Saw them live wih the Beach Boys at Edinburgh Castle a good few years ago now - great atmosphere and a lot of age-related ribbing between fans of each group as to who'd have the heart attacks first!

Quo started off as a psychedelic pop band in the late 60s but found their edge as a hard, three-chord rock band in the 70s. Did some great pile driver rock and boosted denim sales throughout the UK. Lost their way when they released a ballad (Living On An Island) and had a hit with it. Some original long-term members left and were replaced by kids. The band became a parody of itself, lost all credibility but continues to perform regularly and release albums trading on their peak creative era's memory.

Fun, Fun, Fun could be seen in some realms as a totally appropriate collaboration.

Apols if my Quo history and views are slightly skewed but at one time I saw them as Britain's answer to ZZ Top... Who also lost their way for a while...
