Really great interview
It really is, I think Mike is ecstatic to be reunited with his cousin and Al and that the lawsuits are a thing of the past.

Nice interview... it is so great to see everyone evidently happy to be together again.

Great interview. I honestly didn't realize Ocean Way was an old studio, that's pretty cool that Brian's got a history there.

Yep, former United Western. Well, part of it at least.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ocean_Way_Recording
If I'm reading the Wiki correctly, United Western was two studios -- United (at 6050 Sunset Boulevard) and Western (at 6000 Sunset Boulevard). United is the one that's known as Ocean Way now. Western was sold and became Cello studios and is now known as EastWest. That's where a lot of Pet Sounds was tracked. Interesting that Brian isn't recording there, since it's on the same block.

That "suite" thing sounds interesting. It seems as though everybody is getting along at the moment, and it appears that the recording of the album is going well. I'm starting to get excited. Could it be that maybe, just maybe, they might get it right this time?

Q. Are the songs written and just waiting to be arranged and recorded?
Wilson: Most of them have been written. We’re going to have to write a few new ones, but most of them have been written. On the album, one song flows into another and that flows into another like that, until it’s over, until there’s no more album.
Q. So it’s something like “Pet Sounds” and “Smile.”
...
On Pet Sounds, thank God, the individual songs did not flow into another.
Anyway, sounds very promising overall!

I know this story. Something will go wrong, the tracks will be shelved in various stages of completion and we won't get to hear this album for another 45 years (except for the boots and the "completed" version recorded by a 115 year old Brian Wilson).

Straight up, when Jon reported that they'd held a photo shoot for the cover, my first thought was "oh bloody hell, unused cover slicks... Is it wise to prepare a cover before the album's mixed?"
See label for correct playing order.

I think all this is going so well. Killing all previous fears some of us had...
1) Brian doesn't wanna work with Mike and the others
False. He's doing it and having a great time at it.
2) The BBs never quit touring. They played in a town near you every year for the last 50 years. A reunion would not be perceived as such and would not get much attention
False. They're getting as much media coverage as ever, including a Grammy performance to begin with. A major tour is being planned and ticket sales seem to be going well.
3) The voices haven't held up. They'll embarrass themselves. Please, release back catalogue and do not perform live or make new recordings.
The state of their voices and singing defies the most optimistic. They sound great on the studio recording that has surfaced, while putting a great live performance in the Grammy, as seen on TV and (most notably) on the amateur youtubes of said performane. Oh, and archival release is being planned nevertheless.
4) Each BB faction seems to be doing well. Why spoil the state of things with the politics involved in forming a reunion band?
They formed a stellar band; without any doubt, the best support group they've had in their entire career.

Um..it may be a little early to announce how many different versions of the product there will be...they haven't even made it yet. It is possible there will be a Blu-ray release since many music DVDs now have the Blu-Ray counterpart released simultaneously. I suppose we'll have to wait and see...

This is where The Beach Boys recorded all those hits in the early-mid 60's. Studio 3. It's now Ocean Way - they've come full circle!

I, I love the colorful clothes she wears, and she's already working on my brain. I only looked in her eyes, but I picked up something I just can't explain. I, I bet I know what she’s like, and I can feel how right she’d be for me. It’s weird how she comes in so strong, and I wonder what she’s picking up from me. I hope it’s good, good, good, good vibrations, yeah!!
